The SIHH to welcome 9 creative & Independent Manufactures - Monochrome-Watches
Until now, the SIHH, the watch fair held in January, was known to be a very luxurious exhibition that almost exclusively focuses on the Richemont Group brands. The FHH (Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie), host of the SIHH, just decided to change the format, first by bringing a new architectural concept, but mainly by adding to the list of the exhibiting maisons 9 independent watchmakers – and not the worst ones to be honest.Until now, the SIHH or Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, was hosted the Geneva-based watch fair for 16 brands. 12 of them are owned by the Richemont Group – A. Lange & Sohne, Baume & Mercier, Cartier, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Montblanc, Panerai, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Van Cleef & Arpels and Vacheron Constantin (plus Ralph Lauren watches that is operated by Richemont). In addition to?them, 4 other very high-end manufactures were present: Audemars Piguet, Greubel Forsey?(Richemont owns shares),?Parmigiani Fleurier, and Richard Mille.
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M Jewellery - Monochrome Watches
Three new jewellery models join the ladies' Aqua Terra 150m Luxury Editions sub-collection. Presented in 34mm and 38mm Sedna gold cases, the three new watches are enhanced with diamonds and precious gemstones and sport a new wave motif on the dial. Water-resistant to 150m and powered by Omega's Master Chronometer Calibre 8807, these models are resilient and feminine at the same time.Land and SeaThe Aqua Terra belongs to the Seamaster dynasty, Omega's longest-running product line that was launched in 1948. In constant evolution over the years, the Seamaster has explored the dress watch terrain but became famous for its dive watches like the Seamaster 300 of 1957. The Seamaster Aqua Terra surfaced in 2002, and although it still offered robust water-resistance, its looks were modelled on dressier Seamaster models of the 1950s and 1960s, some of them decorated with the horizontal striped lines (decking) that characterise this family. Smart and sporty, resilient and attractive, the Aqua Ter
Video The Piaget Polo Skeleton (Specs & Price)
The Piaget Polo luxury sports watch collection has recently been extended with a fascinating skeletonised model. Leaner than the two existing models in the collection, the distinctive cushion-shaped case of the 42mm steel Piaget Polo frames the refined mechanics of the ultra-thin skeletonised calibre. The curvaceous architecture of the bridges and mainplate allows light to penetrate the calibre from both sides of the case. Available in blue or grey, the Piaget Polo Skeleton is proof positive that the bold, contemporary shape of Piaget's luxurious sports watch is perfectly compatible with the ethereal elegance and beauty of a skeletonised calibre. Something you can admire in the video on top of this article.GenesisYves G. Piaget, the fourth generation of the Piaget dynasty, was the brainchild of the Polo. With the brand's celebrated reputation as a watchmaker and jeweller, Yves Piaget trained as a watchmaking engineer and a gemmologist to join the family business in 1966. His passion fo
Petrolhead Corner: Skoda Goes Mad With The Enyaq RS Race
Normally, I don’t get overly excited by an electric car, especially when talking about the run-of-the-mill electric SUVs that flood our streets these days. The lack of sounds, vibrations, the smell of gasoline being burnt… that sort of thing. But when a manufacturer takes one to the tracks or modifies it with that intent, things start to get interesting for me. The performance an EV can put down on the tarmac is nothing to complain about, but it’s more about the emotion that’s missing. Nevertheless, upon seeing Skoda’s latest super-EV-SUV (is that a thing?) I was quite intrigued from the get-go! Usually not a manufacturer to go mad about, Skoda has shockingly decided to turn its Enyaq into a race-prepped track machine!Skoda and MotorsportsFor those not ‘in the know’ about what Skoda is and does, it’s a Czech car manufacturer that’s part of the Volkswagen-Audi Group. The brand was established in 1925 as the successor to Lauring &
Intoducing - Roger Dubuis Excalibur Knights of the Round Table III (Specs & Price)
This new watch is certainly not the most discreet candidate we’ve covered this year. It is probably one of the most flamboyant models – to say the least. We also know that some of you won’t like it and will feel it is over-the-top and overdone. In all honesty, we can’t blame you. Yet, there’s something fascinating about the?Knights of the Round Table watches by?Roger Dubuis – the first one here and the second one here. Episode 3 of the series doesn’t disappoint either and reveals an incredible level of craftsmanship… really! The?Knights of the Round Table has become a recurring theme for Roger Dubuis – a quite rare one though. In 2013, the brand introduced the first watch in this series, followed in 2015 by a second iteration. The third one is about to be revealed, right here. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
