Hands-On - IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph Edition "150 Years" IW377725 (Specs & Price)
IWC celebrates its 150th anniversary with a generous line-up of 27 limited editions of the brand's icons – including this popular Pilot's Watch Chronograph, also known as the ?“FliegerChronograph“. The 150 Years watch displays elapsed times against a glossy, white lacquered dial that pays tribute to the enamel dials of IWC's historic pocket watches.Flight path of IWC's pilot watchesIWC took to the skies in 1936 with the launch of its first pilot watches and eventually supplied pilots of Britain's Royal Air Force and Germany's Luftwaffe. Hallmark traits of these early cockpit allies ?-in the form of large cases, easy-to-read black dials with white numerals, luminous triangular markers at 12 o'clock and the oversized ratcheted crown to allow for manipulation when wearing gloves – have characterised the IWC's squadron of pilot watches since then. Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321 Steel - Review, Price
Let’s get straight to the point: the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321 in steel is THE ultimate Speedmaster. Period! Whether for its design, its accuracy, the level of details, the overall execution, the historical relevance and, of course, its absolutely superb movement, it has it all. When it was officially revealed, we knew Omega had created a real showstopper, a watch that was destined to become a success. Still, we wanted to confirm all of these statements by putting the watch to a test, on the wrist – and, let’s be honest, we also wanted to enjoy it for ourselves, even for a short period of time. So, fasten your spacesuit and let’s have a close look at the Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321.BackgroundBefore we move on to the ins and outs of this Speedmaster Calibre 321, we have to return to early 2019, when Omega announced that it was working on a recreation of the legendary movement that was found in the case of all early Speedmasters – from 19
Omega Constellation Co-Axial Master Chronometer 41mm
Earlier this year, Omega revived one of its iconic watches, the 1980s-inspired Constellation watch with its characteristic case shape, its bezel with claws and a trendy integrated bracelet or strap. Based on the bold Constellation ‘Manhattan’ concept, the 2020 models brought a cleaner design, some textured dials and mostly a mechanical update with Master Chronometer movements. Available in 39mm until now, the brand adds new 41mm models to the collection, with a slightly sportier look and an even more powerful movement. Overview of the new Constellation Co-Axial Master Chronometer 41mm.The evolution of a 1980s iconEven though the Omega Constellation started out life as a gent's chronometer in 1952, as we explained in this in-depth story here, a strong shift in style occurred in 1982 with the launch of the ‘Manhattan’ family, introducing an entirely new profile for this watch – a style typical of the 1980s. Still powered by quartz movements, the distinctive
Baselworld day three - Monochrome Watches
Another interesting day at Baselworld… and besides several meetings and running into some of the very best watchmakers on planet earth during a book-signing, it was also time to finally get my new MIH Watch!Today the book 12 Faces of Time was officially released with a book-signing. Elizabeth Doerr, writer, and Ralf Baumgarten, photographer, really did an excellent job. Not only is the book great, later more about that, the book-signing was one of the most interesting events during the Baselworld fair. At least for me as an admirer of independent watchmakers.12 Faces of Time is actually a piece of art about the art of watchmaking. It’s very stylish, designed beautifully and Ralf Baumgarten’s photography perfectly suit the style of the interviews. This perfect match between the style of interviews and photos is something that absolutely adds to the joy of reading this book. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Introducing The Frederique Constant Classics Tourbillon Manufacture In Steel
It is not a secret anymore that Frederique Constant has built its success around accessible luxury watches. The idea has long been to provide complications and in-house movements (at least within the Manufacture collection) at almost unprecedented price levels. Remember the brand’s take on the perpetual calendar? Less than 8k euros at launch time. Same with the Highlife Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar, priced below 23k euros. Earlier this year, FC presented a new, streamlined tourbillon watch, the Classics Tourbillon Manufacture, with an in-house automatic movement housed in a gold case (and yes, that was also fairly priced). It now returns in two new stainless steel editions, and once again price is somewhat making a statement.?With only a few exceptions to the rule (and I won’t mention China-made tourbillons here) such as TAG Heuer and recently Horage and?CODE41?(both newcomers with the idea to make a name for themselves), watches featuring a tourbillon are expensive.
