Cool Finds: Five Perpetual Calendars in Gold under €15k - Monochrome Watches
One of the things many watch collectors have in common, is that they’re always on the hunt for a next watch. Sometimes it’s just browsing the bay (we’re referring to Ebay of course) and other times it’s a specific search. For this purpose we often go to Chrono24, like today, and search for that one timepiece that can fill the void in our collection. One of the things we’ve been searching for, is a nice perpetual calendar in gold and we’ve found five that are listed below € 15k.?One thing you should always keep in mind, is the location of the timepiece. For people living in the EU it’s easy to buy and sell within the European Union, however when buying a watch from outside the EU, it will be charged with import tax when it passes customs. Similar for people in the US, Asia, or Down Under, be aware of this factor that will influence the final price.Piaget Perpetual Calendar in yellow goldFirst off is a Piaget, the brand that is best know for thei
Hands-On IWC Big Pilot's Watch 43 Spitfire Titanium IW329701 & Bronze IW329702
When IWC Schaffhausen presented a downsized, tamer 43mm edition of its Big Pilot’s watch in April this year, there were mixed reactions. For purists, anything smaller than 46.2mm did not cut it as a Big Pilot, but for consumers interested in getting their hands on the archetypal pilot’s watch, the news was well-received. Along with its iconic Big Pilot looks, a simplified display, new interchangeable strap system, and more importantly, a more accessible price tag, the 43mm proved a more versatile, more wearable option for many. The latest editions joining the Big Pilot’s Watch 43 collection bring the vintage flair of the Spitfire sub-collection with an evocative bronze model with a military green dial (IW329702) and a sandblasted titanium case with a classic black pilot’s dial (IW329701).B-Uhren backgroundLike many watch manufactures, IWC was conscripted in the war effort to produce watches. Video - Laurent Ferrier 10 Years, The Classic Origin, by Mister Ferrier
It’s hard to believe that the brand Laurent Ferrier is only 10 years old. The independent watchmaker has gained such a level of recognition in a single decade that you would think the brand has been around for far longer. Everything started in 2010 when Laurent Ferrier, an ex-Patek employee and race car enthusiast decided, with the help of one of his closest friends, Fran?ois Servanin, to start his own watchmaking company. And things took off from day one. In its first year of existence, the brand was awarded the “Best Men’s Watch” prize at the GPHG with the Galet Classic Tourbillon. Together with his son Christian, MisterFerrier would go on to launch many superb watches and movements, such as the micro-rotor and its double direct-impulse escapement, the Annual Calendar “Montre ecole” and, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the brand, the sleek, yet elegant and superbly executed Classic Origin. Today, we talk with Mister Laurent Ferrier who will ex
Cuervo y Sobrinos Historiador Pequenos Segundos // Review, Price
Cuba isn't the first place that comes to mind when you think about watchmaking. Cuervo y Sobrinos is arguably the only luxury watch brand with true Latin roots, born in Havana's San Rafael Avenue. Now headquartered in Le Noirmont, Switzerland, the brand combines contemporary Swiss craftsmanship with design inspiration from Havana's golden years. The Historiador Peque?os Segundos was inspired by a vintage company piece from 1946, but also carries a modern vibe with both classic and edgy design elements. Let's look at a deceptively conservative piece that celebrates the Latin spirit. ?BACKGROUNDFounded in 1882, Cuervo y Sobrinos quickly became known for both fine jewellery and watches. The name is derived from Armando R¨ªo Cuervo, who in 1900 worked with his family to expand his uncle's company – Cuervo y Sobrinos translates to Cuervo and Nephews. In 1920, the brand expanded to Europe, networking in Pforzheim, Germany and on Rue Mezlay in Paris. A production site would be set up a d
