Introducing The IWC Portugieser Automatic 40 Salmon Dial
If you’re a recurring reader of MONOCHROME, you should know by now that we have a soft spot for salmon-coloured dials. So much so that it was the main theme of our very first Montre de Souscription. Salmon is original, warm, and luxurious, and despite the outpouring of love from the watch-collecting community, these dials remain quite rare… An exclusive treat for connoisseurs. Now, it’s time for the most classic of all IWC Portugieser models to receive such as dial with the introduction of the new Portugieser Automatic 40 Salmon. First exclusive to the UAE, but no worries, it’ll soon be available worldwide.?Let’s make this story short… Because all you need to know here is that there’s a salmon dial on the existing Portugieser Automatic 40, combined with a stainless steel case. That’s it. But sometimes, small updates can create beautiful watches. And, sorry to sound enthusiastic (I love salmon dials, I can’t help it), but seeing a sa

Beautiful beaches, barbecues, mojitos and sunshine… We don’t want to bring you down, but let’s face reality: summer is ending and very soon we’ll all be back at work. For this reason, we’ve selected 5 cool “Back to Work” watches that will complement your professional look and make you look serious. Let’s suit-up!Frederique Constant Hybrid ManufactureTruth?told, connected watches are a thing. We know that many of you (and that includes us too) want to keep your watches as mechanical as possible, however, connected devices are all around us. Certainly, the Apple Watch isn’t such a bad option (after all, it is a great product… not a great watch though), but for those who want to avoid the “double-watch syndrome” ̵
Hands-On with the Tudor Heritage Ranger ref. 79910 - Live photos and price - Monochrome-Watches
We already told you that Tudor has been looking at their own past, for inspiration. In the past years they have introduced quite a few vintage-inspired models, and this year they surprised us with another version of the Tudor Heritage Black Bay, now in ‘Midnight Blue’. For too long, Tudor has been the little brother of ‘the Crown’, searching for their own identity. When we look at their novelties of the past years they have found their own identity and their latest model only confirms that. Here’s the new Tudor Heritage Ranger ref. 79910. For a few years now, the Rose (Tudor’s historic emblem) has revealed some very iconic ‘toolwatches’, all linked to the history of the brand. Until now there was a balance between new models and the concept of revival.?With the Heritage Black Bay for instance, we had a mix-and-match from historic elements. With their latest offering, the new Heritage Ranger, that is changed because the new Heritage Ranger
Tissot Heritage 1973 Chronograph Limited Edition - Introducing (Specs & Price)
Tissot has solid ties with racing. Swiss driver Loris Kessel wore a Navigator chronograph in the 1970s and was officially sponsored by Tissot in the 1976 Formula 1 Grand Prix. The brand is once again working with Kessel Racing, this time with Ronnie Kessel (son of Loris) to launch the limited edition Heritage 1973. The watch has been updated a bit with contemporary touches but maintains many retro elements that made the original Navigator such a compelling piece. A larger case, updated dial and sapphire crystal mark the major differences, and while not technically a reissue, it's a nice throwback to the 1973 classic. Let's take a closer look. The 316L stainless steel case has a satin-brushed finish with polished bevels – typical of the era – with a diameter of 43mm and height of 14.8mm. The cushion case is nearly identical in shape to the smaller 39mm Navigator with a slightly larger crown and pushers. A domed sapphire crystal replaces the Navigator's acrylic and a mineral g
TAG Heuer Appoints Alec Monopoly As Art Provocateur & J.C. Biver explains us why
A few days ago, right from the Miami Contemporary Art week, TAG Heuer and its CEO, Jean-Claude Biver (also President of the LVMH Watch Division), announced the appointment of American street-artist Alec Monopoly as Art Provocateur for the Avant-Garde brand. Well, as you may have seen already (it was all over social medial feeds), some reacted quite?fiercely to this announcement, judging the collaboration rather irrelevant. However, we were there and we took the time to sit down with Mister Biver and Alec Monopoly, to understand what was behind this appointment. And we can tell you that first, it’s far from being a stupid idea, then it’s a real first in the industry and finally, it’s a great idea for an industry that faces a lack of creativity.Who’s Alec Monopoly? Alec is a famous street-artist (while usually a rather underground field of art, he is well-known, at least in this sector), born in New-York, now based in California and in his thirties – ps. don
