Livening Things Up With Six Watches With Coloured Cases
If like me, you’re not always content with a superbly elegant yet somewhat simple-looking dress watch, I have a solution for you. While a dress watch gives me just as much joy in the right moments, I often like to spice things up with a touch of frivolity. That frivolity can come in the form of colour, for instance. As luck would have it, brands are expanding their colour palettes well beyond the traditional blue, black, silver and brown. We’ve seen watches with bright pink or purple dials, but what if you want to step up your colour game even more? Well, you’re in luck, as the six watches in today’s Buying Guide all come with a strikingly colour case, using various materials to enhance their looks.Tissot Sideral BlueThe revival of the Sideral was quite a surprise move from Tissot, but a very fun and welcome one. It captures the essence of the original Sideral yet presents it in a modern package. The forged carbon barrel-shaped case is topped with a black PVD-co
Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti - Hands-On (Specs & Price)
Last year, at Baselworld 2016, Hublot demonstrated once again its?concept of “fusion“, its unique approach to blending?different materials, many of which are not usually associated with watches, that result in some?interesting combinations. The brainchild of a partnership between the watchmaker and Berluti, the famous Parisian shoemaker, they used?patinated leather for both the straps as well as the dial?– creating what I personally found to be one of the most appealing creations from?the brand. Today, the same concept is applied on a chronograph, the?Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Berluti.I’m entirely aware that this Hublot x Berluti piece was a rather polarising?watch. A?bold creation, with a certain uniqueness and a very unusual refinement it was not to?everyone’s liking, as is often the case with Hublot, with some calling it irrelevant. In some ways?this is positive. At least, it proves that Hublot dares and doesn't create?conservative?objects to pl
Hands-on - Frederique Constant Classic Manufacture with Black Dial (Specs & Price)
Sports watches have a certain appeal, a?definitive coolness that makes them desirable. Yet, there?comes a?time?in your life, when?only owning these types of?timepieces is no?longer appropriate. At a certain point, every gentleman needs an elegant dress watch. However, while the need and the desire is present, the same cannot always be said?for the money… This is why we wanted to show you the?Frederique Constant Classic Manufacture with Black Dial. Extremely elegant, refined, mechanically interesting and yet, rather accessible. You can’t always dress like a teenager and wear a sports watch. At?certain times, a dress watch is required: formal business environment, black tie parties, matching?your?watch with a suit… Even if I don’t?see anything?wrong in wearing a Submariner or an IWC Pilot with a suit, this is not the case for everyone. Even a small watch collections should include?a subtle, smaller, slimmer and less tool-ish watch. If the idea of?going in?the opp
Back from Basel - Monochrome Watches
I just got back from Basel where Robert-Jan (Fratellowatches) and i visited Baselworld. The watches and juwelry show was totally overwhelming! Last friday, saturday and today (sunday) i’ve seen a LOT of watches, met a lot of nice and interesting people and talked to some of the most famous watchmakers alive. Mindblowing…During the coming week i will do my best to select the best photos and make some stories of all the meetings with watchmakers and brands. So for now i will post some quick and dirty wristshots of some of the most beautiful watches i’ve seen. Omega’s presentation for the 40th anniversary of the Omega Speedmaster Professional was really something. The new Speedmaster Apollo 11 was launched by the astronauts who wore the Speedmaster Professional on the moon! Buzz Aldrin, Charles Duke, Harrison Schmitt and Eugene Cernan where all present at the presentation and panel discussion about flying to the moon (again). But for starters i’d love to share
Introducing: The Rado Captain Cool x Cameron Norrie Limited Edition
Rado has sponsored tennis for over three decades now. Since 1985, the brand has partnered with several tournaments but also with athletes such as Ashleigh Barty. Their latest tennis-themed timepiece is a limited edition created with young British player Cameron Norrie, a member of the Rado Tennis family since 2021. And as you have probably guessed from the start, it is based on one of their star collections, the Captain Cook.Presented during the tennis grass season, this limited-edition Captain Cook comes in a 42mm steel case with a unidirectional bezel fitted with a green polished ceramic insert. It is matched by a domed green-to-white gradient dial. The Rado moving anchor logo is featured on a purple back plate and adds a playful element to the dial. The use of Superluminova on the bezel, dial and hands provides enhanced legibility in all conditions while bringing a sporty touch. The tip of the second hand is highlighted in yellow as a reference to tennis balls. Ad - Scrol
