Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso with Red Lacquered Dial fetches record price - Monochrome Watches
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches hit record prices at?Antiquorum auction in Geneva, that was held last week. One that particularly tickled us, is the stainless steel Reverso with red lacquer dial. It was sold for CHF 50,000 !!?This Reverso with red lacquered dial is the predecessor of this years JLC novelty, the new Grande Reverso Tribute to 1931 Rouge. Last year the French auction house Artcurial sold a Reverso with red lacquered dial for € 28,000 Euro and another was sold for CHF 35,000 in May last year by Antoquorum. Ad - Scroll to continue with article It looks like vintage models of the JLC Reverso are seriously gaining value and I’m curious whether this rise is lasting. Of course vintage Sports models and Patek Philippe complicated watches are a sure thing for fetching extreme high prices. This seems quite restricted to these brands, like the same Antiquor
Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra | The Battle of Luxury Daily Beaters - Part 1
Let's face it; watch collectors are not the largest demographic out there. Yes, thankfully, there are plenty of you to keep the industry ticking and our webpage alive and well, but most men are confessed “monowatchmen”. By this, I mean that most men will probably own one good watch during their lifetime, perhaps two. If you are a monowatchman, you've come to the right place. Today we will be looking at a solid candidate for the one-watch-men of this world, a 3-hand and date watch that you can wear day in and day out. Let’s start our “Battle of Luxury Daily Beaters” with the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m by Omega.Omega's Aqua Terra 150m is a perfect “all-rounder”, sporty without being a monolithic tool watch, rugged enough for a game of football – European, not American – smart enough to wear to the office and with an engine on board that surpasses most players in the field. The Seamaster Aqua Terra we have today is the 41mm steel versio
Reviewing the Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture (photos, specs and price) - Monochrome Watches
Earlier this?year we introduced you to the stainless steel Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture with enamel dial, which?we loved.?Now it’s time to introduce its sister (yes, a watch is female: la montre), the Classico Manufacture with blue sun-ray dial. The other day we had the opportunity to?view this incredibly beautiful looking dress watch?with one noticeable drawback: the dial is so appealing?that people will forever be asking to see your watch more closely. The Ulysse Nardin Classico Manufacture was introduced in 2015, adding an in-house movement to the brand’s popular classic collection. At the time it was only available in rose gold. To celebrate the 170th anniversary of Ulysse Nardin, a stainless steel version with?enamel dial was added to the collection. The company also added three other variations with the stainless steel case: a silvered dial (3203-135-2/30), a black dial (3203-136-2/32) and a blue dial (3203-136-2/33), all featuring the in-house UN-320 movement. First Look: The IWC Portofino Chronograph 39 On Steel Bracelet
When it comes to icons, every brand wishes to have at least one in the ranks, but few brands can claim to have several cornerstone collections. One such brand is IWC, which can always count on the Big Pilot, Portugieser and Portofino to entice watch lovers. The Portofino, first introduced in 1984, quickly garnered a reputation for its timeless elegance.?However, one thing that has always been absent in the Portofino range is a stainless steel multi-link bracelet.?Making its debut on the Portofino Chronograph 39, this gives a decisively more sporty vibe to an all-time classic.Since its introduction four decades ago, the Portofino has made a name for itself as the elegantly proportioned, easy-to-wear watch. Most often, it is fitted to a leather strap, although mesh bracelets have been introduced in the past. With this new brushed and polished 5-link steel bracelet, IWC shifts the Portofino Chronograph 39 from a sporty-chic watch into a distinctly more sporty spotlight. IWC has cleverly i
Buying Guide - Best of Pilot's Watches presented in 2021
This year has been an incredible year for many reasons. We've seen some fantastic new watches as brands adapt to the pandemic and embrace new business practices. With this in mind, we continue our retrospective of 2021, even though we still have a few weeks left in the year. Once again, MONOCHROME's editorial team has cast their votes to determine our favourite pilot's watches of the year. And the results are a pretty exciting mix of aviation-inspired pieces.Editor's note: this list reflects the preferences of MONCHROME's editorial team and results from an internal vote. This list is, of course, non-exhaustive and remains subjective. If there are other pilot's watches launched in 2021 that made an impression on you, feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comment section.Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Red Radar CeramicWe kick things off with a watch by Bell & Ross, a brand forever linked to pilot instruments since its inception in 1994.
