Oris Chronoris Williams 40th Anniversary Limited Edition - Review (Specs & Price)
I always have a little bit of a tough time stomaching car, football club or otherwise branded Limited Edition or commemorative timepieces. Some try way too hard to get across what they are, other than a standard series watch with often little more than a few details that have nothing to do with watchmaking. Don't get me wrong, there are examples that come out just right in my book, and yes it is of course highly personal, as is everything when it comes to preferences. One of those watches that seems to hit the proverbial nail on the head for me is the recently introduced Oris Chronoris Williams 40th Anniversary Limited Edition.Like we explained in the Watches & Formula 1 series, the connection between watches and cars is a strong one, dating back to the earliest times of the sport where timekeeping was in its infancy. Over the years the technology progressed, and eventually, watches became obsolete when it came to tracking elapsed time in an official motor racing event. But that do
Hands-On Santos de Cartier Chronograph (SIHH 2019, Specs & Price)
Having given the Santos new wings in 2018, Cartier expands the bestselling men’s collection in 2019 with the addition of a chronograph.? Thicker, wider and infinitely sportier, the new Santos de Cartier Chronograph has found an elegant solution to replace the classic two-pusher chronograph configuration with a modified version of its automatic 1904-CH MC calibre. Presented in three versions - solid 18k pink gold, steel and yellow gold bezel, and steel with a black ADLC bezel - we have selected the stylish pink gold model for our hands-on review.GenesisWhen Brazilian aviator Santos-Dumont commissioned a watch from his friend Louis Cartier in 1904 that he could wear while piloting his plane – and not have to lift his hand from the controls – little did either of these gentlemen suspect that the result would become one of the most popular and enduring Cartier icons of all time. Characterised by a square case with visible screws, a shape that flew in the face of the fashi
Oris introduces a trio of unisex Aquis Date 36.5mm models.
Geneva Watch Days 2022 brings us a fun trio of Oris Aquis Date models, this time with reserved, unisex cases and earthy mother-of-pearl dials. Don't let the relaxed aesthetics fool you: these are serious divers with a pro depth rating and sophistication that Aquis Date watches are known for. They follow similar yet larger models like the Aquis Date New York Harbor Limited Edition with a green mother-of-pearl dial (almost identical to one of these three), but the smaller size and steel bracelets give them distinctive personalities. Women might be a bit more drawn to these, but they're certainly suitable for anyone above or below the water. The multi-piece stainless steel case has the familiar Aquis Date look with a steel unidirectional rotating bezel and 60-minute scale in relief. At 36.5mm in diameter, it's on the smaller end of the collection but, again, universally sized for just about any wrist. A double-domed sapphire crystal with an interior anti-reflective coating protects the dia
Video Review: The All-New TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph Collection
For 2025, TAG Heuer feels it’s time for a massive overhaul of its racing-inspired Formula 1 collection, and here we are. Plus, it’s a timely refresh as well, as it has been just announced that TAG Heuer, as part of the LVMH Group, is the official timekeeper for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship again! The first watch, or watches rather, that put things in motion is this all-new Formula 1 Chronograph. We’re talking about new shapes, new materials, new colours and so on. Four watches are released in one go, with a colourful Oracle Red Bull Racing Edition thrown in the mix for good measure!? TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 collection was first introduced in 1986 with colourful quartz-powered watches taking inspiration from the world of motorsports. it was, in fact, the first entirely new collection after the takeover of the Heuer watchmaking company by Technique d’Avant-Garde, now the TAG in?TAG Heuer.?Since racing has been in the DNA o
