The Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman dive watch flaunts the bold monochromatic look. This watch surely offers exceptional detailing and functionality as a perfect dive watch. Like usual dive watches, this watch is quite hefty with a diameter of 42mm; the stainless steel case has a uni-directional rotating bezel with top black ring, the numerals both on the ring and inside the dial are in bold, coherent Arabic font. The white numerals, indexes, marking and the luminescent hand greatly increase the legibility no matter the environment.

Walter Lange, A. Lange & Sohne Honorary Chairman, died on January,17th, 2017, the day right after we recorded this interview. We’d like to dedicate this very modest movie to this great name of the watchmaking industry and a highly respectable person. Bravo! We’ll miss you Mister Lange. As some might say, the show must go on… But?how futile?and material?this would be, the SIHH is about watches and A. Lange & Sohne again has a great, impressive and highly desirable collection of watches, including the Tourbograph Perpetual, the Zeitwerk Decimal Strike and the 1815 Annual Calendar. And who could be better than our good friend?Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, to explain these SIHH 2017 novelties. Here is our conversation with him. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Introducing the New Bulgari Octo Roma - Live Photos, Specs & Price
For over a decade now (designed by Bulgari’s Roman design department in 2004), the Octo has become the iconic watch collection of the brand, known for its delicate and precious jewellery creations but also now for some distinctive watchmaking products (see the Finissimo collection and you’ll understand…) Yet, as desirable this watch is, it is a razor-sharp design, with no fewer than 110 facets and a shape that can’t go unnoticed. This year, the brand gives an answer to those?for whom the Octo is simply too bold, with a more delicate and softer creation, still impregnated?with the Octagonal DNA, the?Bulgari Octo Roma.About the Bulgari OctoOcto Finissimo Small Seconds platinumOur editor Xavier drew a quick history of the model, clarifying a misunderstanding point. Indeed “The Octo has often been attributed to Gerald Genta but, as Bvlgari points out, it was actually conceived in the brand’s Roman design department in 2004. Commercialized under the Geral
IWC Portugieser Automatic 42 Boutique Edition - Monochrome Watches
It's a big year for the Portugieser over at IWC, the iconic watch that was launched in 1939 and has become a perennial favourite among watch lovers. Along with the unprecedented?Portugieser Automatic 40, there were two new Portugieser Automatic 42 models; one in steel and one Boutique Edition in 5N gold with a blue dial. Recently, we were lucky enough to have the Boutique Edition IW500713 for our hands-on session and here's what we found. Not only in boutiquesI have to admit that when I saw the Boutique Edition' suffix I figured that this rose gold model was a boutique-exclusive-limited-production deal. Well, I was wrong. Boutique Editions refer to models that combine rose gold cases and blue dials and are not limited in production. However, this doesn't mean that you have to trek out to an IWC Boutique to buy this particular model. You can view it online and then order it over the phone. I tested the procedure online and in seconds an assistant popped up, answered my questions and then
Longines Heritage Classic Black Sector Dial (Specs & Price)
Longines is well-known for being one of the most prolific brands when it comes to paying tribute to its past, and reissuing some of its most glorious vintage models. All positioned under the “Heritage” collection, there is one watch in this range that made quite some noise when introduced back in 2019, the Longines Heritage Classic Sector Dial. Compact, faithful, elegant and playing on 1930s inspirations, it was an immediate success. Following the silver edition, the winged hourglass?comes back this year with a new model. Meet the Longines Heritage Classic Black Sector Dial, and with the option for a cool beads of rice bracelet. The Longines Heritage Classic is a watch that boasts all the elements of a typical?1930s piece. Think Calatrava-styled case with stepped bezel, straight lugs, two-tone dial with a so-called sector, combining markers and Arabic numerals, clean hands and a central crosshair… No need to mention that such vintage watches are now highly sought-after
Interview - Jean-Marie Schaller of Independent Watchmaker Louis Moinet
Although Louis Moinet was a prominent watchmaker between the 18th and 19th centuries, Les Ateliers Louis Moinet was only created 20 years ago. As Watches & Wonders 2021 just ended, we paid a visit to Jean-Marie Schaller, the brand’s CEO, to understand how he embarked on resurrecting Louis Moinet.Xavier Markl, MONOCHROME – How did you get into watches?Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO of Louis Moinet?– Well, I grew up in the Jura mountains in the small city of Delemont. As a boy, I felt a lot of passion from the people working in the watch industry. There was a brand known as Jura Watch; there were watchmakers, case makers, dial makers, etc. These people gave me the sense of the importance of having a mission. I felt they were working not just to make a living - of course, we all have to – but they were all pursuing a passion. Soon, I realised that watches were more than just a simple product. Watches are the expression of know-how, tradition and soul from the Jura Mo
