Only Watch 2017 - The unique blue dial Audemars Piguet?Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Black Ceramic
For its 2017?edition, the biennial Only Watch event has been attracting more and more brands, keen to participate in?this charity auction. Absent from the previous two editions, Audemars Piguet makes its return to?the long list of manufactures, with a unique piece based on its?impressive?Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Black Ceramic. Except?now, they’ve?introduced?a touch of color to the?previous?monochromatic look, as it features a bright blue dial. The goal of Only Watch is simple: in giving collectors the opportunity to bid on?unique pieces from luxury watch manufacturers at?auction (this year, Christie’s will be auctioning the watches, on November 11th, 2017) the proceeds go towards funding the?research of Duchenne muscular dystrophy – the monies collected will be given to?Association Monegasque contre les Myopathies (AMM).?While some brands create completely unique pieces (remember the Patek 5016A of 2015), others?simply?add a unique feature (technica
Auction - The Pink Dial Project for Breast Cancer Awareness
Watches and charity… When there’s a good cause, many watch brands don’t hesitate long and donate one of their, often unique, creations. Earlier this year, Wei Koh, founder of Revolution magazine and The Rake, reached out to join forces in order to raise money for breast cancer. He baptized this the Pink Dial Project. Nineteen brands have donated watches and the auction started a few days ago, on October 25th. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the auction to raise funds for Breast Cancer treatment, research and awareness is ending this weekend, on Sunday the 31st of October.?Every two years, we see how watch brands participate and donate for a good cause, with the Only Watch auction. This year, again, the line-up of remarkable, impressive and uber-impressive watches is just mind-boggling. Every two years the Only Watch auction raises millions! In early 2020, Andrew from Time + Tide Watches quickly organized the Watch & Act! auctio
Hands-On With The Meraud Antigua Chronograph And Its NOS Landeron 248 Movement
While considering how to describe this new watch best, I got sidetracked thinking about how many vintage-inspired and retro-looking contemporary editions were so popular and unanimously accepted. What constitutes their appeal? Why do we keep saying how beautiful they are? Marketing efforts and sentimental issues aside, one train of thought suggested that the watchmaking business that flourished in the 1960s and the 1970s produced wristwatches with similar designs, and in large quantities, imprinting in our collective memory images of beautiful objects – watches, beautiful by default, for what they represented. We, the people, carry the picture of this ideal watch design in our heads involuntarily. And when we see a contemporary, well-executed watch that immediately recalls the blueprints, we issue the “beautiful” tag. I do so after spending some time with the new Meraud Antigua Chronograph.Meraud Watch Co. is from Belgium and is one of many Kickstarter start-ups with
Parmigiani presents the Bugatti Aerolithe - Monochrome Watches
In the watch industry there are many collaborations between watches and cars. The combination of mechanics and design, masculinity and speed are easily linked. Just think of Ferrari (now-a-days with Hublot), Porsche (now-a-days Eterna, but it used to be IWC), Bentley (of course with Breitling) and Aston Martin (Jaeger-LeCoultre). Today we can show you the brand new Parmigiani Bugatti Aerolithe, a new milestone in the already intense collaboration between Swiss High-End watchmaker Parmigiani and French ultra luxury car maker Bugatti.Parmigiani does not simply “brand” the watch with the car-maker’s name, but instead goes the extra mile. And they have been doing so since the very beginning of the collaboration. The iconic design of the Parmigiani Bugatti Super Sport that we showed you before (click here) shows how a collaboration can be so much more than simply adding an extra logo to the dial. The Bugatti Super Sport (we’re talking about the watch made by Parmigia
Introducing the Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition (specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
We've knew about it for a while. We showed it to you a few months ago when we spotted Daniel Craig wearing an Omega Seamaster 300 with a NATO strap – and then the official poster for?the latest 007 James Bond movie, Spectre, definitely gave us the answer. Now it is official and here is the?Omega Seamaster 300 SPECTRE Limited Edition that Daniel Craig will be sporting on its wrist – and it comes with small but quite cool unique features (sorry but no, there’s no laser on it).You probably all know about the Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial, a watch that we loved at first sight here, for many reasons. First of all, it is a faithful but also modern re-edition of one of Omega’s greatest watches, the Seamaster 300m CK2913. The design of the new?Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial is clearly inspired by its vintage predecessor (with its straight lugs, its triangular indexes slightly recessed in the dial, the bezel with a black insert). The?parentage between these tw
