Collector's Corner - Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Chronographe Retrograde
In our previous episode of the Collector's Corner, we took a look at the Chopard L.U.C 16/1860 and its siblings that are part of the micro-rotor Calibre 96 family. From the realm of time-only, we move to complications again. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2021 with the stunning Nonantieme, a celebration of the spirit of the Reverso and the possibilities afforded by a swivelling case. This article travels 30 years back to the early 1990s, to a landmark project that saw Jaeger-LeCoultre?relearn Haute Horlogerie as the company developed six limited-edition watches in rose gold, each with a different complication, in the span of ten years. And, since we love our chronographs at MONOCHROME, we're going to look at a particular watch in this special series, namely the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Chronographe Retrograde.A Brief History of the Jaeger-LeCoultre ReversoWe took our first look at the post-quartz crisis years at Jaeger-LeCoultre in our earlier The Colle
Girard-Perregaux Laureato Chronograph (Specs & Price)
Girard-Perregaux is using the Laureato collection as its battering ram to break into the kingdom of the “luxury sports watch”. Suffice it to say that there are only 25 different models in the Bridges family, 44 models in the 1966 collection… and nearly 75 Laureato watches. And let’s keep in mind that the modern version has only been around since 2016, a rebirth Brice reported in its day. Arguably the favourite complication of the general public, no collection or brand can do without a chronograph in its ranks and these Laureato Chronograph comprise a flawless formation.Of course, there is an argument beloved by purists that would kill the purpose of this article and start a new discussion:?“meh, this watch is a copy of…” Indeed, as explained by Brice, the Laureato was born three years after Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak, but one year before the PP Nautilus or the IWC Ingenieur. Its birth date and the fact that the Laureato was in production
Introducing: A Gradient Turquoise Dial For the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m
It has become a pretty recurring thing for Omega to release new models, or at least new editions of existing watches, with very little or no fanfare. While this has happened in the Planet Ocean and Speedmaster collections, it’s mostly the Aqua Terra family that sees these discreet releases dropping regularly. Following the addition of a green dial to the 38mm AT and an array of Moonshine Gold models earlier this year, it’s time for the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m Shades?to bring an unprecedented colour to its already extensive range, with a new gradient turquoise option for both the 41mm and 38mm versions. While looking fresh and new, these new editions are based on the Shades version of the Seamaster Aqua Terra 150m. As a reminder, this sub-collection is slightly different from the traditional Aqua Terra, which we’ve come to know with its brushed and polished case, sporty bracelet or rubber strap and signature teak-like textured dial. The Shades sub-collection is more c
