Hands-On - Omega Constellation Globemaster Annual Calendar 41mm
In our world driven by novelties and social media, it’s sometimes easy to forget things that have been presented only a few years ago. But today, we’ll give a look at a watch that is somehow underrated, a discreet model that, however, encompasses all the savoir-faire of Omega… and more. With its focus on precision, and the addition of one of the most practical types of calendar, the Constellation Globemaster Annual Calendar is full of arguments, but also some polarizing details. So today, we’ll give a look back at this timepiece.?A tribute to early Constellation watchesAs we explained in this in-depth historical article, the Constellation is one of the most enduring collections of Omega. It even came to life before the legendary Speedmaster. Baselworld 2019 - MeisterSinger Bronze Editions No. 03, Perigraph and Metris (Specs & Price)
MeisterSinger specializes in unique, single-hand watches and its entire portfolio reflects that - none have a minute or seconds hand (well, there's this one). Most of its cases have been stainless steel thus far, with a cool Black Line edition of diamond-like carbon (DLC) coated cases providing an edgier, sportier look. Bronze has been an increasingly popular case material with brands like Bell & Ross, IWC and Montblanc jumping onboard, and MeisterSinger itself has dabbled in bronze with the limited Perigraph Bronze. The German brand is now expanding on this with three new bronze editions of its most successful models - the No. 03, Perigraph and Metris. Bronze has long been favoured for nautical and scientific instruments due to its resilience and resistance to corrosion. It does form a patina over time, however, making each piece unique with an antique(ish) quality as they age.The No. 03 watches are part of MeisterSinger's Classic line, having either no date or a circular date win
Roshan Martin Legende Tourbillon - Monochrome-Watches
Here, at Monochrome-Watches, we are used to see extreme horology and very high-end pieces. All with their own specificities, some brands as?Christophe Claret,?Greubel Forsey or Richard Mille had already impressed us with watches priced over half an million Euros / Dollars. We tried them, we played with them, we explained them to you because such a price has to be justified. Recently, we found a new brand, based in Montreux, Switzerland, that came to the world with an extra-thin tourbillon, the Roshan Martin Legende Tourbillon, priced over that symbolic ‘half-a-million’ step. Let’s see why!The first watch presented is an extra-thin tourbillon that takes inspiration in observatory watches, known for their accuracy and precision. The Roshan Martin Legende Tourbillon is entirely?designed, developed and produced in Switzerland, by a small group of people led by Roshan Martin, a young Swiss designer. The idea behind the brand and the collections is to ‘conceive the fi
Value Proposition Marloe Haskell Hand-Wound ETA (Specs & Price)
Marloe Watch Company is a brand of only a few years, but already has a nice portfolio of affordable, mechanical watches. It has chosen to use hand-wound movements in all four of its lines and I'm a big fan of this decision. I like the daily interaction that comes with winding a watch and the view from an exhibition caseback is more detailed without the interference of a rotor. Most of its watches use either Seagull or Miyota movements, but its flagship Haskell now has a Swiss ETA beating inside. I hesitate to claim that an ETA movement is superior to a comparable Miyota - is a Ferrari superior to an Acura NSX or Lexus LFA? - but the perception surrounding Swiss movements is real and I applaud Marloe for a well-executed piece with Swiss technology. Let's take a closer look at the Marloe Haskell.BACKGROUNDMarloe Watch Company is based in Oxfordshire, England and was founded in 2015 by two watch enthusiasts and friends, Oliver and Gordon. They have a shared passion for hand-wound watches
