In the watchmaking industry, there are few iconic names. Contemporary ones like Philippe Dufour or Fran?ois-Paul Journe, but mainly some old but highly famous?names like Abraham-Louis Breguet. Another one might be slightly less known but his working life also?conducted to true innovations and several masterpieces: Ferdinand Berthoud. Introducing: Ulysse Nardin Freak X Enamel Seddiqi
In 2019, Ulysse Nardin introduced the Freak X, an entry-level to the innovative and convention-breaking Freak series, maintaining the brand’s “no-dial, no-hands” design, showcasing its signature flying carousel construction within the newly developed UN 230 movement. Introducing: Rado Captain Cook Automatic Blue Gradient Dial
Following the relaunch of Rado's classic Captain Cook in 2017 (first introduced in 1962), the diver's portfolio has expanded significantly with models like the Bronze Collection and Two-Tone Automatics. This latest variant celebrates summer with a nod to tennis and offers three different straps for a new vibe whenever the mood strikes. It's not the first model to wink at tennis as the Cameron Norrie Limited Edition really stepped onto the court, but this one has a fresh gradient dial and all of the core elements that make a Captain Cook. The stainless steel case has a contemporary size of 42mm in diameter and 12.3mm in height compared to the 1962 model's 37mm case. Rado did release a faithful 37mm Limited Edition back in 2019, however, but this one very much belongs in 2024. The case is polished along with the crown and bezel, and the latter has a polished blue high-tech ceramic bezel insert with a simple engraved diver's scale with white Super-LumiNova. Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Calendar GMT Manufacture Boutique Edition - Monochrome Watches
To many collectors, the Perpetual Calendar / Quantieme Perpetuel is the complete timepiece; yes of course there are a few more complex mechanisms, but in terms of the practical, day-to-day functionality of a time and date watch, the perpetual calendar covers all bases. In simplistic terms, it is a watch which, if kept wound, will never need manual intervention and will record time, day, date, month and the year. Ulysse Nardin comes with a new version of its?Perpetual Calendar GMT Manufacture, a platinum watch with blue dial made for its boutiques only.So what? Well, considering the varying number of days in the months, it's a pretty sophisticated feat of micro-engineering to translate that challenge into a mechanical solution so that the date is always corrected without changing it yourself. Then consider that oddity which is the leap year, when once in four years the month of February gets an extra day to balance out the books, so to speak. So we're talking about a function which only
