First Look: The new A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Handwerkskunst
Handwerkskunst… If you know one thing or two about A. Lange & Sohne, you’ll understand that this slightly complex word for anyone not German is actually sweet to hear – to make it simple, it does translate by craftsmanship. What it means is rare watches, but mostly finishings and decorations of the highest rank. For the first time in the brand’s history, the name Handwerkskunst is now applied to the all-important A. Lange & Sohne Datograph. And this shouldn’t come as a surprise, as this emblematic and historically important chronograph celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Let’s discover what this Datograph Handwerkskunst Limited Edition is all about – spoiler: there are small details that will surely please long-term collectors.?Earlier this year, during Watches & Wonders Geneva, German watchmaker A. Lange & Sohne celebrated the 25th anniversary of its emblematic chronograph, the Datograph, with the launch of the Datograph
First Look: The All-Black Bvlgari Octo Roma Automatic & Chronograph
Ancient Rome is a constant well of inspiration at Bulgari that deftly transforms architectural motifs from the past into fresh, stylish designs. The dynamic geometry of the Octo Roma, released in 2012 and refreshed in 2023, is said to have been inspired by the octagonal coffering found on the vaults of the 4th-century Basilica of Maxentius in the Roman Forum. Now in its sportier, more robust and less angular format, the Octo Roma revisits two models - a time-and-date and a chronograph - dressed from head-to-toe in black. An iconic Bulgari collection, the Octo Roma was the departure point for the record-breaking Octo Finissimo legion. Revisited over the years, the latest facelift corresponds to 2023, when the Octo Roma’s case became less angular and more rounded. The idea was to position the Octo Roma as an alternative to the ultra-thin Octo Finissimo, offering more robust, sportier cases and increased versatility thanks to the quick-release interchangeable strap system.
Industry The Revival Of Daniel Roth in 2023, Thanks to LV
If you’re into independent watchmaking, the name Daniel Roth should immediately speak to you. One of the most sought-after independent watchmakers, and a man who was instrumental in the return of high-end mechanical watchmaking in the 1980s and 1990s (including his work on the resurgence of Breguet), the brand Daniel Roth has known many lives… And some that were perhaps not worthy of the name. But something is about to happen that will bring much joy to collectors: Daniel Roth, one of the defining independent watch brands of the 20th century, is coming back, run as an independent brand, with guidance and incubation from La Fabrique Du Temps Louis Vuitton.?Daniel Roth has been an instrumental figure in the revival of mechanical, high-end, traditional watchmaking in the mid-1970s. He was one of the key players in the resurrection of Breguet, together with the Chaumet Brothers (from 1976 to 1988) and worked on bringing back the classic Breguet style. Together with Lemania, Bre
Seiko Takes Us Back To The Roots of The 5 Sports With The Cool SPRK17 55th Anniversary Limited Edition
When Seiko recently introduced a re-edition of the very first Seiko 5 Sports from 1968, I got quite excited, to be honest. What I was looking at, on paper until then at least, was a faithful recreation of an iconic watch. The Seiko 5 Sports has been, and still is a very important collection to Seiko, and I’m sure pretty much all of us came into contact with one at some point in life. It’s widely considered a gateway mechanical watch, one that introduces loads of people to the world of mechanical watchmaking. And while some might move on, I still love a good Seiko from time to time. And this one seemed a very?good one by the looks of it. So, a quick call to our Seiko contact, a little wait, and here we are, going hands-on with it. And perhaps ruining the surprise; the new Seiko 5 Sports 55th Anniversary Limited Edition SRPK17 is even better in person! As we’ve explained before, the Seiko 5 collection was introduced in 1963, with the beefier Seiko 5 Sports following in 1
Hands-On - The New Omega De Ville Tresor Power Reserve (Price)
Omega unveils the first in a line of new De Ville Tresor men's watches for 2021. Previously available in three-hand & date configurations, the new 18k yellow gold Tresor model features a power reserve indicator at noon counterbalanced by a small seconds sub-dial at 6 o'clock. Following in the footsteps of its 1949 ancestor, the guiding light behind the Tresor is the combination of understated elegance with a peerless movement. The latest De Ville Tresor Power Reserve embraces both facets. The subtle vintage vibe and slim profile deliver the understated elegance we associate with the Tresor collection, while the manual-winding Master Chronometer movement guarantees the industry’s highest standard of precision, chronometric performance and magnetic-resistance.not just a pretty faceThe Tresor, launched in 1949, was Omega's proposal of a simple, three-hand watch for men in a slim case with the best-performing movement of its day. Tresor, meaning treasure, did not refer to the pre
