Weekly Watch Photo - A. Lange & Sohne and Horch - Monochrome Watches
The week always starts with a Weekly Watch Photo here at Monochrome Watches. The photos of this week are provided by German watch manufacture A. Lange & Sohne and they have created a set of brilliant photos… again! It is of course no surprise to you, that we just love the watches from A. Lange & Sohne. For their stylish classic looks, for the beautiful movements with three-quarter plate, for the brilliant finishing and for some of the most remarkable innovative timepieces of the last 15 years. So let’s enjoy the beauty of three of their latest timepieces in a befitting setting. The photo above show the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calender that was introduced in January of this year. The watch is placed on a 1919 Horch four-cylinder engine (14/40 HP). I have to admit that I never heard of Horch, but after reading this article at Wikipedia, it’s become clear that Horch is the predecessor of what we know know as Audi. This name is actually based on the surname of t
Cool Finds: Five Perpetual Calendars in Gold under €15k - Monochrome Watches
One of the things many watch collectors have in common, is that they’re always on the hunt for a next watch. Sometimes it’s just browsing the bay (we’re referring to Ebay of course) and other times it’s a specific search. For this purpose we often go to Chrono24, like today, and search for that one timepiece that can fill the void in our collection. One of the things we’ve been searching for, is a nice perpetual calendar in gold and we’ve found five that are listed below € 15k.?One thing you should always keep in mind, is the location of the timepiece. For people living in the EU it’s easy to buy and sell within the European Union, however when buying a watch from outside the EU, it will be charged with import tax when it passes customs. Similar for people in the US, Asia, or Down Under, be aware of this factor that will influence the final price.Piaget Perpetual Calendar in yellow goldFirst off is a Piaget, the brand that is best know for thei
Introducing: An Array of new Longines Master with Engraved Dials
Possibly the most classic and timeless range of Longines, the Master Collection has long been slightly overlooked since its inception in 2005, maybe due to a rather shy design. Yet, in 2022 to mark the brand’s 190th anniversary, Longines gave this collection a highly appealing twist, with grained dials and engraved Breguet-like numerals, elevating this collection to a whole new level. Following the success of the 3 original limited editions, the brand released a more compact small seconds collection, this time part of the permanent range. And now, it’s time to establish this design and engraved dials as classics, with now fewer than 15 new references, in steel and gold, and in 40mm and 34mm cases.?Since its creation in 2005, the Longines Master Collection has been one of the brand’s most important ranges. Classic, elegant and contemporary, it was also a vessel for complications, as it even included an annual calendar or refined moonphase models. Design-wise, this coll
Tissot Heritage Petite Seconde - Value Proposition Review (Specs & Price)
Vintage-inspired watches are all the rage these days with military and dive watches usually grabbing the spotlight. Tissot has been around since the early 1850s and knows a thing or two about vintage watches. The brand's Heritage collection is full of throwbacks, celebrating milestones in both engineering and design. For instance, the Visodate line looks back at the 1950s when the date complication was integrated with an automatic movement. The recent Heritage 1973 Chronograph Limited Edition celebrates the brand's long ties with racing. The Tissot Heritage Petite Seconde is inspired by a dress watch from 1943 that was marketed as an elegant piece for men in big cities. Anti-magnetism was an innovative feature at the time with ongoing developments, and this actually created a bit of controversy with this new watch (more on that below). The Heritage Petite Seconde might be aesthetically faithful to the original but its timeless design still works well today. Let's take a closer look.Bac
Only Watch 2017 - Tudor Black Bay Bronze One - LHD / Khaki Green ref. 7925/001
Let’s be honest, the unique Patek and F.P.Journe for Only Watch 2017 we’ve just introduced to you earlier today are indeed really important?pieces… But let’s not forget the brand that surprised everyone back in 2015, with a watch that sold for multiples of?its pre-sale estimate: Tudor. For the 7th Edition of the charity auction, they are back, with a unique left handed and?Khaki Green Bronzo, the?Tudor Black Bay Bronze One.Two years ago, at Only Watch 2015, Tudor rocked the event?by presenting a unique Black version of the Heritage Black Bay, a watch that was prefiguring a future commercial watch (the Black Bay Black 79220N). This watch caused a sensation, as it reached approximately 100 times the price of a standard Black Bay, at CHF 375,000. Clearly, collectors had shown their enthusiasm for?it by bidding – hard. This year, for Only Watch 2017, Tudor had no other choice than to bring another ultra-cool piece. And here it is, the?Tudor Black Bay Bronze On
