Through its Blue Editions, retail powerhouse Bucherer offers watch enthusiasts a collection of watches exclusive to its stores and focused on the attention to details. Based on existing models, all modified to make them unique and all featuring the signature blue colour of the retailer, the collection keeps growing year after year, with some of the most prestigious watch brands participating. Today, it’s time for the Swiss family business to unveil its latest collaboration, a beautifully executed?Breguet Marine 5517 Bucherer Blue Editions. The new model in the “Bucherer Blue Editions” collection is a collaboration with high-end watchmaker Breguet. Following watches made together with IWC, Blancpain, H. Moser & Cie. and many more, this is the first time these two companies team up to create a special edition watch. Using as a base the time-and-date version of the recently redesigned Breguet Marine,Bucherer not only adds its blue touch but also modifies many aspects of the dial, thus creating a highly desirable iteration of this watch. This watch is the classic, time-and-date model in the redesigned Marine collection, which was introduced at Baselworld last year. More modern, bolder, still featuring high-end details and Breguet DNA (fluted casebands, modernized hands but still Breguet shaped, guilloche dials), it comes in a 40mm diameter and its case is made of grade 5 titanium. Even though rather luxurious, this 5517 still represents the sporty side of Breguet, with its robust lugs and a 100m water-resistance.Powering this watch is the in-house calibre?777A, a modern automatic movement with great decoration of the parts and a rotor shaped like a?ship's wheel. This movement beats at 4Hz, features a silicon balance spring and boasts 55 hours of power reserve. It is visible through the sapphire caseback. Complementing this already powerful design is an integrated rubber strap, confirming the sporty and nautical vocation of this watch. Here it is presented in blue and secured with a titanium folding buckle, again shaped like a?ship's wheel. The sapphire caseback is decorated with a dedicated “Bucherer Blue Editions” printing. What is specific to this?Breguet Marine 5517 Bucherer Blue Editions compared to the standard model? While the titanium 5517 offered by Breguet features a?sunburst slate grey dial with single finishing, Bucherer’s edition relies on the same style of dial as used in the gold models – but modified. This means that we have a dial with three different areas, including a central one that is guilloche with a wave pattern, picked out in blue. This same colour can be found on the periphery of the dial (on the minute track). Unique to the Marine 5517 Bucherer Blue Editions is the silvered, brushed chapter ring, contrasting with the blue central and external parts of the dial. The Roman numerals are also different. They are blued and get rid of their luminous inserts to become slimmer and more elegant. The date disc matches the blue colour of the dial.Altogether, Bucherer has achieved an elegant and desirable version of the?Breguet Marine 5517. It will be available only through Bucherer stores, for a price of CHF 18,500. More details on www.bucherer.com and www.breguet.com.
