When it comes to racing-oriented watches, Chopard has an interesting legitimacy to offer to watch lovers. Besides the Mille Miglia collection (that has been renewed this year with a quite cool design and in-house movements), the brand also has another highly masculine and robust collection, the Superfast. This chronograph has already been the base for a specific edition dedicated to Porsche and the 24h of Le Mans. For Only Watch 2015, Chopard will donate a unique edition of the?Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 made together with?Le Mans driver Mark Webber.The?Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 is not a total stranger to us, as earlier this?year, Chopard came with?an edition dedicated to the Porsche 919 that won Le Mans and designed with racing-legend Jacky Ickx?and last year,?Chopard already introduced an edition of this watch, also celebrating the partnership with Porsche Racing. This year, the Superfast Chrono (we?previously introduced the?entire Superfast collection)?comes in a unique edition for only Watch 2015, made together with the brand’s ambassador and pilot Mark Webber. This edition boasts?a few visual adjustments to create a one-of-a-kind timepiece.?The?Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Mark Webber?Edition has the same 45mm than the previous Porsche 919 Edition, with a rugged and sporty shape: large screwed bezel engraved with a tachymeter scale, rubberized crown and,?striated flanks, large 60-minute scale on the inner flange. However, the case is here made for the first time in titanium and is partially coated with black DLC – on the lugs and on the crown protection. Ad - Scroll to continue with article The dial itself still uses the same design as the 2014 edition, meaning a fully silvery-white plate (while the Jacky Ickx edition was featuring?contrasting sub-counters in dark blue). Technically, the watch remains equivalent to the production pieces, meaning that it features an?interesting in-house movement developed at?the Fleurier Ebauches ateliers. The Calibre Chopard 03.05-M is an integrated automatic chronograph engine, actuated by a column wheel, chronometer certified by COSC, boasting 60 hours of power reserve and featuring a flyback function.?The look and finish of this movement (that can’t be seen through an exhibition back but instead the watch features a full back engraved with unique?inscriptions and Mark Webber’s signature)?is kind of special, as all the bridges are fully opened with vertical lines, again a reference to racing cars and their ventilation grids.
