Interview - Collector Patrick Getreide, Owner of the OAK Collection
Today will be a truly special installment of The Collector's Series. The kind of person and watch collection you'll see once in a lifetime Many people are collecting watches, but few of them have turned watch collecting into as much of an art as Patrick Getreide. The French businessman who started collecting four decades ago is not driven just for the sake of owning timepieces but by passion. We were lucky enough to meet him and take a look at his collection in Geneva a few days ago. Watch collectors are notoriously secretive, and their collections are rarely seen by anyone outside the collectors’ close circle. So it was a moment of sheer indulgence for us to take a look at so many exceptional timepieces gathered in the same place. The good news is that Patrick Getreide has made a selection of watches and will be exhibiting them at the Design Museum in London in May. And there is much to look forward to. The OAK collection – which stands for One of A
Introducing: The New Onyx Edition of the MB&F LM Flying T
MB&F undertook its maiden voyage into the galaxy of women’s watches with the launch of its Legacy Machine Flying T in 2019. After 14 years of masterminding complex watches for men, Max Busser’s Legacy Machine Flying T flaunted all the attributes associated with MB&F watches but in a more feminine format – or even a very feminine format when teaming up with Bulgari. For 2024, the watch shifts gear and returns in more unisex attire with a sleek black onyx dial plate and an 18k yellow gold case without diamonds. The latest Legacy Machine Flying T could be classified as the black-tie version of this model. With no diamonds highlighting the case, the model is closer in spirit to the non-diamond-set Flying T Red Gold of 2020 with its guilloche dial plate. Considering that many of MB&F’s watches are too large for men with smaller wrists, the more restrained dimensions and toned-down styling of the Flying T make it a viable option for both sexes. A

Hands-On - Laurent Ferrier Galet Classic Tourbillon Dual with Open Dial (Specs & Price)
Laurent Ferrier is first and foremost a watch passionate and watch designer (he has spent 37 years at Patek Philippe,?ending his?career as creative director). He's not one to show off or boast about his achievements, preferring instead to let his exceptional work speak for itself. Even then, he likes to keep things understated, at least on the dial side, ensuring the focus remains primarily on functionality and practicality (although the watches are gorgeous to look at too.) This year, however, he has finally bowed to the wishes of some of his passionate collectors and, for the first time ever, created a watch where the tourbillon is visible from the dial side –?stocking for some, desired by others… Today, we're going hands on with this beauty, which still features all the technical hallmarks of a wonderfully elegant Laurent Ferrier timepiece. The role of a tourbillon, first and foremost, was at first to improve timekeeping accuracy by attempting to counter the effects of gr
