Hands-On A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Rattrapante Platinum
The rattrapante chronograph, also known as split-seconds or Doppel chronograph, is often regarded as one of the most sophisticated horological complications, and a must-have in high-end watch collections. As a top-tier watchmaker, A. Lange & Sohne isn’t only familiar with the complication, it somehow masters it, with a double-rattrapante – the Double Split – and even a triple-rattrapante – the Triple Split (respectively able to split the seconds and minutes, or the seconds, minutes and hours). Two years ago, the Saxon manufacture came with its first stand-alone split-seconds chronograph, the 1815 Rattrapante Honey Gold. And sometimes, less is more, this watch being one of the absolute best of the brand. This watch fully focused on the eponymous complication returns this year in a classic limited edition, the A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Rattrapante Platinum.?A. Lange & Sohne and the ChronographThe chronograph complication and the rattrapante function are de
Chronopassion is a true wrist watch Mekka - Monochrome Watches
Who doesn’t know Chronopassion, the famous watch store with it’s spectacular collection of the most extraordinary, extravagant and rare watches? Recently I visited Paris and Laurent Picciotto, owner of Chronopassion, was so kind to talk about his store and how he started this back in 1988. 271 Rue Saint-Honore in Paris is a sort of watch Mekka for serious collectors and aficionados. The collection consists of famous brands like Audemars Piguet, Breguet, A.Lange und Sohne and Girard-Perregaux. But besides these big name brands, there are some many watches you will not see in many other watch stores. Think of Greubel and Forsey,?Hautlence, Ladoire, MB&F,?MCT Watches,?Richard Mille and URWERK. The most spectacular watches you can imagine. That’s why Chronopassion stands out from the crowd of watch stores and has become famous around the world. Laurent Picciotto is the founder, owner and president of Chronopassion and was welcomed me in his office for an interview.
Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon for the 85th anniversary (live photos) - Monochrome Watches
Jaeger-LeCoultre already proved that they are capable of?housing a Gyrotourbillon in a dress watch. But it was a big watch, measuring 55mm by 36mm. The platinum case added to the weight. At the 85th birthday of the Reverso they have taken the combination to the next level by trimming width and thickness by 30%. Here is the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon. The ReversoThe reverse watch was invented in 1931 as a solution for British officers based in India who were capable of watching the time and playing polo at the same time. The patent described a watch that can slide on its base and flip over on itself. Over time, the Reverso has become an icon of the watch industry and arguably Jaeger-LeCoultre's most famous watch. During the past 85 years, JLC has surprised us with new interpretations and reiterations of the Reverso. See here for more information on Reverso watches produced by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Aquastar Deepstar Re-Edition - Diving Chronograph Review, Price
Forget about the usual suspects that are , Omega, Blancpain or Seiko. The world of dive watches is full of surprises, of smaller brands that are to be considered hidden gems… And when you start to dig into the archives of the dive watch history and forget about mainstream models, there are some fascinating vintage watches to discover. Such an example is the Aquastar Deepstar, a watch that I rediscovered when publishing a vintage column. The kind of watch you secretly wish to see coming back. And earlier this year, it did make its return. Having covered the launch of the 2020 Aquastar Deepstar Re-Edition, I wanted to experience it in the metal. So, diving suit on, scuba tank charged, let’s look at it.?Aquastar…?As said, the dive watch industry in the 1960s was pro-li-fic. While a wider audience will have in mind the classics – Submariner, Seamaster, Fifty Fathoms – there were countless smaller brands building dive watches, assembling parts from suppliers t
Hands-On Artisans de Geneve Honey Pearl Project Skeleton Nautilus 5711
The personalisation of timepieces can take many forms, from a classic black coating to the highly debatable integration of stones (the so-called ‘icing process’). But some workshops are on a mission to demonstrate that customisation can be made with taste and Haute Horlogerie in mind. Artisans de Geneve is certainly among the best in this field. Known for radically transforming the look of a watch and applying intricate skeletonisation techniques to movements, this team of specialised craftsmen only works upon request. Following the initial Pearl Project with carbon elements, the workshop presents a new and highly attractive gold version, the Artisans de Geneve “Honey Pearl” Project.?Disclaimer: Artisans de Geneve is an independent company specialising in the personalisation of timepieces. The present watch is a sample of its know-how and of the personalisation services made upon request. Artisans de Geneve is not affiliated with Patek Philippe SA nor authorised
