Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver White Gold 15720CN Review
Born in 1993, the Royal Oak Offshore collection was at the time of launch probably one of the most impactful models the watchmaking world had ever seen. Bold and provocative, it quickly became a reference point for all other future ultra-sporty luxurious watches. Following the chronograph models, Audemars Piguet created in 2005 another important watch, the Royal Oak Offshore Diver?(first entitled Royal Oak Offshore Scuba). Offered in vibrant colours and cool combinations of materials, the Diver has undergone a deep update earlier this year, with a new collection that we discovered here. And it’s time now for the upgraded?Royal Oak Offshore Diver to get its first limited edition, which is all about luxury and contrast.?If the name Royal Oak Offshore Diver appeared in 2010, this specific sub-collection was initiated in 2005, with the launch of the Offshore Scuba. Walking in the footsteps of its chronograph sibling, a watch born in 1993 and nicknamed “The Beast”, AP deci
COOL FINDS: 3 rarities from indie watchmakers - Monochrome-Watches
After showing you some highly interesting vintage timepieces?from Heuer and some rare vintage chronographs from Airain or Universal Geneve, we wanted to move on to our favorite subject: independent watchmakers. Those type of watches are always made in very limited editions and finding pre-owned ones is complicated. Here are three rare birds that you might like as much as we do.A classical Speake-Marin J-Class ResiliencePeter (Speake-Marin) is a very good friend of Monochrome-Watches. We’ve always thoroughly enjoyed?his work. He has now moved on to building some very nice, more affordable, pilot watches (the Wing Commander, the Seafire Chronograph and the Spirit MkII) but he also has his classical line, the J-Class, represented by dress watches, with in-house calibers and even a tourbillon. Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the company's most iconic model, which was born in 1931 as a fairly simple watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre is, for Watches & Wonders 2021, announcing the Reverso Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadriptyque (Calibre 185 for brevity), an uber-complication limited to ten pieces in 18k white gold. The Calibre 185 is the world's first four-faced watch, and simultaneously the most complicated Reverso ever manufactured, comprising 11 complications, including a perpetual calendar, minute repeater, and indications of the synodic, draconic, and anomalistic cycles. And the list goes onThe Complicated Reverso over the yearsThe history of the complicated Reverso has its roots in 1991, in the 500-piece limited edition Soixantieme that commemorated the Reverso's 60th anniversary. The Soixantieme brought with it a larger case size known as the grande taille and was, more importantly, the very first Reverso to be outfitted with complications. Five more complicated Reverso
First Look: The Artya Son of Earth Dome Collection
The world of Yvan Arpa is one of boundless imagination. Flamboyant and unpredictable, he breathes life into timepieces, which under the brand Artya, defy convention and embrace a daring uniqueness. True to its name, the Dome collection captivates with its sculptural domed sapphire crystal, protecting distinctive dials, some crafted from natural materials, ensuring that no two dials are identical. And, as is often the case with Artya, these are released as unique pieces or exclusive limited editions. In the diverse array of Artya Dome releases, the two watches we were able to photograph showcase captivating dials made of semi-precious stones. The first one is a unique piece with a DLC-coated steel case and a Labradorite dial standing out with eye-catching iridescent colour effects. The second one is a limited edition in stainless steel, graced with a white fluorite dial with intriguing patterns and texture.? Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Hands-on with the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds - Monochrome Watches
Recently we had the chance to get up close and personal with the new Patrimony Traditionnelle Small Seconds in platinum, that Vacheron Constantin introduced earlier this year at the SIHH. This new model has all the looks and attributes of a classic dress watch, and it’s one of the most attractive classic dress watches that we have seen in a long time.?Part of its great looks, is that it is not the standard classic dress watch and sets itself a bit apart from other dress watches in pink/yellow gold with a silver/white dial. The grey dial with the slightly recessed small seconds sub dial that is encircled by a rail track seconds index. looks a tad more sporty than a standard dress watch’s dial. And that perfectly matches with the platinum case, that measures 38 mm in diameter and 7.77 mm in height. Not too small, not too big… Vacheron Constantin got it just right.?
