The Collector's Series: Kristian Haagen and his A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual - Monochrome-Watches
In our second instalment of the Collector Series we sit down with one of the coolest guys in watches, Kristian Haagen. He’s a watch enthusiast (watchgeek), collector, author, lecturer and advisor to auctioneers (it must be tough when people ask what he does for a living at dinner parties!). However you may know him best for his mind-blowing photography and instantly recognisable fluorescent bracelet wrist shots on Instagram. In this episode we discuss one of his most iconic pieces, the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual, the extended version of the ‘regular’ Datograph that is also affectionately know by some as the Dufour-graph. Introducing: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked in Yellow Gold
In the extensive range of anniversary timepieces unveiled by Audemars Piguet to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Royal Oak in 2022, one watch stole some of the spotlight: the Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked 16204ST. Its contemporary and geometric design, complemented by dynamic, powerful, flowing lines, skillfully captures the essence of a classic skeletonised movement. Upon its initial launch, two versions were introduced: a discreet and nearly monochromatic steel model and a striking rose gold variant. This year, the Le Brassus-based manufacture presents a yellow gold iteration, which is as captivating, original, and impressive as its predecessors. Please welcome the newest addition to the Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked collection, the reference 16204BA.The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Openworked 39mm 16204 series shares its style and size with the classic closed-dial Jumbo 16202, with 39mm x 8.1mm case dimensions. These openworked models also had a brand-new self-wind

Buying Guide: Five Salmon Watches To Satisfy Your Horological Appetite
“Guess what? I got a fever… and the only prescription is more Salmon Dials!” It could be our horological equivalent of SNL’s famous “More Cowbell!” sketch with Christopher Walken. If you don’t know what that is, I strongly urge you to Google it and then come back here to continue reading. Regardless, it’s no secret the MONOCHROME Editorial Team has a strong love for dials in copper, pink-gold, salmon or whatever tone you want to call it. Heck, even our first Montre de Souscription had a salmon-coloured dial! So you can understand, we get a little bit more excited when a new salmon-toned watch comes along, as opposed to classical black, silver or blue. Case in point: the Chopard L.U.C. Lunar One that kicks off this tasty Buying Guide. Whip out your soy sauce and chopsticks, as we have some finely sliced horological salmon sashimi lined up to whet your appetite!Chopard L.U.C. Introducing The Redesigned Arnold & Son Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton
Pulling out all the stops before Watches & Wonders 2024, watchmaker Arnold & Son presents two skeletonised models powered by one of the world's thinnest flying tourbillon movements, now dubbed Ultrathin Tourbillon Skeleton. While these new models have been treated to some design tweaks and a new tourbillon carriage, these editions of the Ultrathin Flying Tourbillon Skeleton are similar to Arnold & Son's 2016 UTTE Skeleton. Available in rose gold and platinum, each metal is limited to 28 watches. In the exclusive world of ultra-thin manual-winding tourbillon models, Arnold & Son was the uncontested champion of ultra-thin in 2013. The brand's UTTE (Ultrathin Tourbillon Escapement) boasted an incredibly thin movement of 2.97mm (A&S8200) and a case height of 8.34mm. However, one year later, Arnold & Son's pole position was debunked with the launch of Bulgari's Octo Finissimo Tourbillon with its 1.95mm movement. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
