F.H. Bennahmias, CEO of Audemars Piguet, about coming classical collection and integrated chronograph - Exclusive video interview for Monochrome - Monochrome Watches
When it comes to interview CEOs of brands, usually, we end up with a lot of nice words and some marketing speeches. Telling the truth and giving proper insights on the state of the watchmaking industry or on what a brand is about to launch, what are the coming developments, is not the rule. However, the interview?you’re about to look at is slightly different. One thing is sure; Fran?ois-Henry?Bennahmias isn’t shy to tell the truth and to give us some very interesting clues on what Audemars Piguet is working on for the coming years. New classical line of watches, new integrated chronograph movement and coming trends. Here are the subject exposed in this exclusive video interview with?Fran?ois-Henry?Bennahmias,?CEO of Audemars Piguet, during the SIHH 2016.What are the things to keep in mind here? First of all, what we were expecting is going to happen. Audemars Piguet is actually working on a new classical line, dressier watches that will both look at future – with a co
Understanding Porsche Design, With the Vintage Titan Chronograph and The Modern Monobloc Actuator - Monochrome Watches
Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was a genius, a visionary. A man not weary of defying odds and venturing into the unknown. Not only is he the driving force behind the legendary Porsche 911 sports car, but he also brought us much, much more. Under the Porsche Design umbrella is a world of luxury items to be found, from travel bags, writing instruments and fashion items to highly technical sports-oriented wristwatches. There's a clear link to the road and race cars by Porsche but that's not all. The brand has a very innovative orientation and today we take a look at a vintage world's first by Porsche Design. We're comparing the then futuristic Titan Chronograph by IWC and its modern derivative, the Monobloc Actuator 24h-Chronotimer.Ferdinand Alexander “Butzen” Porsche next to its most iconic creation, the legendary Porsche 911A few years ago, we already took an in-depth look at Porsche Design and the brand's history with titanium. The longstanding relationship between the design
Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Bucherer Blue Editions (Specs & Price)
It was just a matter of time before the regular stainless steel version of the Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph would make its debut. We knew it after seeing the Bronze Carl Brashear model, we just didn’t know how and when… The wait is over, as the first steel edition of the Sixty-Five Chronograph is out, however, it isn’t just an Oris; it is also a Bucherer-themed watch. Meet the new (and cool) Oris Divers Sixty-Five Chronograph Bucherer Blue Editions. The Divers Sixty-Five is Oris’ most successful collection of the last five years. An affordable, well-executed, good-looking diver with a fair amount of vintage elements, it has been praised by many – including us. What started as a stand-alone piece quickly became a full collection, with 36mm, 40mm, and 42mm models and with steel, ‘BiCo’ steel-and-bronze or full bronze versions. Last year saw the first introduction of a complication in this collection, with the limited edition Oris Carl Brashe
Exclusive Hands-On - Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept (and yes, it is really very light...) - Monochrome Watches
Last week, we announced to you a very interesting piece from Montblanc, a concept watch made with one single idea in mind: lightness. Indeed, the?Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept is said to weight ONLY 14.88 grams - which, even if difficult to comprehend what it means, is?a serious achievement. Last week we traveled to Switzerland for a series of visits and interviews, including Montblanc, we asked Davide Cerrato, the new head of watches, to bring this watch to us. And here are the very first shots of the?Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept and our impressions of this light-as-a-feather watch strapped on the wrist and of course more details about what it's gonna be in the future. In the press release that Montblanc sent last week, they announced having created an extremely light watch, in fact one of the lightest mechanical?watches ever manufactured: the?Montblanc TimeWalker Pythagore Ultra-Light Concept, with 14.88 grams. This number alone remains quite
Oris Big Crown Limited Edition PA Charles de Gaulle (Specs & Price)
A bit of French pride for today… Indeed, as some of you might know, I’m French and what Oris is releasing today somehow resonates?with me. Based on the military roots of the brand, which is represented by the?Oris Big Crown collection, Oris?is introducing a limited edition watch made to honor the crew of the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, the French Navy's flagship. This is why I’m proud to show you the new?Oris Big Crown Limited Edition PA Charles de Gaulle (the Aircraft-Carrier, not the President…)When it was admitted into active service in 2001, the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier, or porte-avions in French (hence PA), became the French Navy's (la Marine Nationale) first nuclear-powered surface vessel and France's eighth aircraft carrier. Today, it?remains the only nuclear-powered carrier completed outside the US Navy, and the largest Western European warship currently in commission. For more than 15 years, the Charles de Gaulle has served as a deterr
