SIHH 2015 - A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual Grey Dial White Gold - Hands-on with live photos, specs & price - Monochrome Watches
What can we say about the?A. Lange & Sohne Datograph that hasn't already been said? Certainly one of the finest chronographs of all time, but?if you add a perpetual calendar to the package, what do you receive back? A superb, exclusive, technical and desirable timepiece. Is this QP edition better than the chronograph only? Maybe not. Anyway, the?A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Perpetual is pure horological sweetness and for the 2015 edition of the SIHH, the German manufacture decided to slightly update it by bringing a new colour and a new material. We said new… Well, not exactly!Let us go back to the very beginning of SIHH 2015. We presented you the Datograph Up/Down in its Pink gold edition, which was a reissue of an old watch. Indeed, the first execution of the Datograph (not Up/Down) was already available in this pink gold / black dial combination. Well, A. Lange & Sohne is now using?the exact same recipe for the Datograph Perpetual. The combination of a white gold cas
Introducing the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French LE
The connection between classic cars and Chopard isn't to be demonstrated anymore. Beyond the brand's co-CEO passion for vintage automobiles, the brand has been associated with the emblematic Mille Miglia race since 1988. In the frame of this partnership, Chopard developed a dedicated collection of racing chronographs, with now 35 years of history under the hood. Now, in the context of one of the largest classic car shows in Europe, Retromobile, Chopard presents its latest creation, the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph French Limited Edition. The Mille Miglia, an iconic open-road endurance race spanning approximately 1,500km from Brescia to Rome and back, was established in 1927 by Count Mazzotti and Count Maggi. Legend has it that their dissatisfaction with the relocation of the Italian Grand Prix from Brescia to Monza spurred the inception of this legendary event. In 1988, Chopard lent its support to the revived (since 1977) Mille Miglia race for cars constructe
The Petrolhead Corner - Two rather unique Ferrari's up for grabs
Clad in dramatic Rosso Corsa, donning the yellow-and-black Prancing Horse logo, and fitted with a high-performance engine, preferably in the back, there’s just something mystical and evocative about a Ferrari. Even when that Ferrari was never raced like it was intended to do, or a painstaking, home-built replica of a car that doesn’t exist anymore. And yes, the latter would never pass as a genuine Ferrari to purists, but if it’s done to this level, I feel it is deserving of the name regardless. In today’s episode of The Petrolhead Corner, we take a look at two very specific cars carrying the Cavallino Rampante; a recreation of the Ferrari 156 Sharknose, and the wild Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione.Brandon Hegedus behind the wheel of his home-built Ferrari 156 Sharknose replica – Road&track.comThe 1961 Ferrari 156 F1 SharknoseIt’s not the first time we investigate this legendary car, as it was featured in an episode of The Petrolhead Corner before, and
We once more look at independent watchmaking outside of Switzerland.
Over the last two weeks, in this first installment and in this second one, we have dedicated our Sunday posts to indie watchmakers from outside of Switzerland. And even though the vast majority of watches are produced, or use components produced in Switzerland, why should it stop there? The allure of Swiss Made is understandable, but with the right mindset and the right people, a good watch can be produced anywhere. With that in mind, it's time for our third and final (for now probably) rundown of some of the coolest non-Swiss independent watchmakers.Ketelaars – the NetherlandsCall us chauvinistic, but yes, we're once again including a Dutch indie watchmaker. In recent years, our little country has been bustling with exciting things in the watchmaking industry, which we happily share with all of you. One such watchmaker is Stefan Ketelaars, a young man from the south of the Netherlands, who creates intricate 3D displays. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
