Introducing the A. Lange and Sohne 1815 Anniversary of F.A. Lange in Honey Gold (specs & price)
In the collection of A. Lange and Sohne, there are two classical, understated, elegant dress-watches. If the Saxonia is the entry-level and simple offering (no offense here, it is a really great deal), the 1815 is the traditionalist one, the conservative side of?A. Lange and?Sohne. After a first edition in platinum with a black dial, the brand continues to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Ferdinand?Adolph Lange (the founder of the manufacture) with another edition,?the A. Lange & Sohne 1815 Anniversary of F.A. Lange, in Honey Gold.Honey Gold is a proprietary alloy with a very soft honey tone, in between the colour of the untreated German silver used for the movements and the bright?and warm tone of?yellow gold. It is softer, classier and more discreet - and more exclusive as only available on certain editions of A. Lange?and?Sohne watches. Together with this case (that is still measuring a reasonable 40mm), the dial is also exclusive and features a slightly grained surface –
IWC Big Pilot's Watch Heritage Bronze IW501005 - Review (Specs & Price)
Few watches can claim to be real icons. The IWC?Big Pilot's Watch is definitely one of them. This WWII-inspired pilot’s watch needs no introduction anymore. Of course, the one that everybody knows is the classic black dial version with white indices (Ref. IW500912). But there are more editions offered by the brand – including my favourite, the “Le Petit Prince” ref. IW500916 – with or without complications. Recently, the brand added a new, vintage-like subcollection in the Big Pilot line dubbed “Heritage”, which includes the watch we’re about to review, the?IWC Big Pilot's Watch Heritage Bronze IW501005. Patina is about to hit the sky!BackgroundIn 2002, IWC launched a watch that would later become a true cornerstone in the collection, a watch that many praised and loved, a watch that would define IWC as a true pilot’s watch manufacture: the Big Pilot. The first edition – the standard black dial version, Ref.?IW5002 – was
Introducing the Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Jacky Ickx Edition (including live photos & price) - Monochrome-Watches
And the winner is Porsche. Well, if we focus on cars engaged at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, there's no question anymore. Porsche is the clear winner of the 2015 edition of the legendary race, with their cars finishing 1st?and 2nd positions, in front of Audi Sport. However, in the race of watches celebrating a partnership with one of the Le Mans teams, we have a new competitor, just after the TAG Heuer Nismo and the Oris Audi Sport?– and the new?Chopard Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Jacky Ickx Edition has quite some arguments to be the first to cross?the line. While the watches celebrating the partnerships with 24 Hours of Le Mans teams Audi Sport and Nismo/Nissan – meaning a TAG Heuer and an Oris – are pleasant?but technically simple chronographs (both reasonably priced and featuring classical Sellita movements, clones of a Valjoux 7750), its seems that Porsche requirements in terms of technical specs are drastic, as the watch proposed by Chopard plays on another level. Hands-On - The Heuer Monaco Worn by Steve McQueen in 'Le Mans'
In 2017, under the hammer of star auctioneer Aurel Bacs (from Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo), Paul Newman’s?very own?Paul Newman? Daytona reference 6239 became the?most expensive wristwatch ever – the world record holder is now a unique?steel Patek Philippe Grand Master Chime for Only Watch. It is hard to pin down exactly what will make a watch a star at auctions. The brand’s name, the scarcity of the model or its specificities are essential. The fact that a watch was once owned by a celebrity or has a story related to an icon of cool can ramp up the sales price significantly People need something they can connect to. And what better way to impress by presenting a watch that was worn by the “King of Cool” himself, Steve McQueen.Steve McQueen with one of the Heuer Monaco 1133B used during the shooting, on the set of the 1971 ‘Le Mans’ movie. On Saturday, 12 December 2020, at the New York RACING PULSE auction, Phillips will offer
