Interview Wilhelm Schmid on A. Lange & Sohne 2020 Novelties and COVID-19
Usually, we would start by saying “we sat down with Mr Schmid, CEO of A. Lange & Sohne, to discuss the brand’s newest releases” or something along those lines. Well, not today. Last week I met ‘virtually’ with Wilhelm Schmid during a Zoom meeting for an interview about the two novelties A. Lange & Sohne introduced during the (again, virtual) Watches & Wonders of this year. Only two novelties for A. Lange & Sohne and to be honest, no ground-breaking novelties either. However, Mr Schmid did give some insight into what’s to come and how the company is reacting to the current COVID-19 challenges in the short and long term.?A. Lange & Sohne introduced what insiders would call ‘animations’. An animation, for instance, could be a new dial colour or a case in a different material. The two new timepieces from Lange are the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater that now comes in white gold and a new Odysseus that also comes in white gold. Yo
The Revamped Bvlgari Bvlgari - Slimmer, Bolder and with New Materials - Monochrome Watches
The Bvlgari Bvlgari has been one of the brand's most emblematic watches for over 40 years. The model was born in 1975 when the Bulgari brothers decided to create a watch as an exclusive gift for their 100 best clients. What started as a gift became an enduring Bvlgari design, reinventing itself over the years. Inspired by ancient Roman coins, the watch features pure, simple but powerful lines.? With no logo on the dial, the Bvlgari logo is engraved twice on the bezel, earning the timepiece the nickname BB. And to bring it up to date,?this icon has just received a discreet facelift. Renewing the genre, the new Bvlgari Bvlgari is presented in a slimmer and enlarged 41mm cased. It is fashioned out of bronze, black DLC-coated steel or black DLC-coated steel with a bronze bezel. The bronze crown incorporates a ceramic insert. These new metals for the collection give the model a more contemporary style. And patina fans will love the modern-vintage feel of the bronze ve

Yummie....I’m looking for the ultimate vacation watch and for the first time i find it hard, nearly impossible, to find what i’m looking for.Of course i’m not looking for a watch with a battery! My search is for a mechanical watch, preferably with automatic winding, meeting several practical requirements. Ad - Scroll to continue with article For me a vacation must be somehow carefree. I don’t want to look out for my watch, be afraid it might get damaged or stolen. Since i love diving it must be waterproof, at least 200 meters. I like diving in warm and tropical waters, which are not to be found anywhere near the place where i live. This means my vacations are at least in a different timezone, mostly at the other s
Introducing: Vacheron Constantin Tribute To Traditional Symbols
Vacheron Constantin taps into a more creative vein with the latest quartet of watches celebrating ancient Chinese culture. Emerging from Vacheron's Metiers d'Art atelier, the four models offer two different interpretations of the legendary Chinese motif known as the Seawater Cliff. The motif, which appeared in the 14th century, represents the sea crashing against steep cliffs. Presented in 38mm gold cases with richly decorated dials using different enamelling techniques, the two Eternal Flow models feature vivid technicolour dials, while the Moonlight Slivers interpret the theme in a more restrained palette. For the latest Metier's d'Art Series, Vacheron's design department was drawn to the Seawater Cliff, an omnipresent symbol of imperial China reproduced in architecture, furniture, porcelain and silk ceremonial dragon robes. This motif, which emerged during the Ming (1368-1644) and was perpetuated during the Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, depicts cliffs being pounded by the sea and repre
