Luxury Watches |
Beautifully capturing the laid-back lifestyle of the Mediterranean, the IWC Portofino is the very essence of elegance and flawless beauty. The simple, uncluttered dial houses three subdials and displays the date and day at the 3-hour mark. The back engraving tells the tale of an extremely special way of life, capturing the magic of the picturesque fishing village for all eternity. All in all, the Portofino will certainly make a wonderful addition to your watch collection.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo 15206PT and 15207OR Yoshida
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin, with its modern steel iteration (Ref. 15202ST), needs no introduction anymore. The direct descendant of the 1972 original Royal Oak watch, still ultra-thin and identically proportioned, it is one of the most sought-after watches on the market and one of the most (if not the most) legitimate luxury sports watch. And while steel was part of the inaugural concept, precious metals made their appearance later… And they are still used today to create this rather special edition. Here are the Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin “Yoshida” 15206PT and 15207OR.Same case, just more preciousThese new (and rare) editions retain all the classic elements of the Jumbo case and bracelet, meaning a thin and reasonably large case, measuring 39mm x 8.1mm. The shapes, the bezel and the crown are familiar, with the signature octagonal-shaped bezel, eight white gold screws and a finishing combining straight brushed surfaces and polished accents.
2021 Tudor Black Bay Chrono Panda 79360N Review, Video, Price
The Black Bay is, without doubt, the most successful collection of Tudor. This watch has been instrumental in the resurrection of the brand in the early 2010s. Since its introduction in 2012, this vintage-inspired diver's watch has been a commercial hit and the collection has been enlarged with multiple complications, in various materials and in a wide range of colours. The collection is a classic for Tudor, mixing modern execution and retro-looking elements, such as the iconic Snowflake hands or signature applied indexes. And in 2017, the brand introduced its first Black Bay Chrono, which caused quite some reactions… A good base for sure, but there was room for improvement. Well, it’s here, with the new editions of the Tudor Black Bay Chrono for 2021. And we have a video review of these models too, that you can check on top of the article. The Black Bay Chrono… a controversial piece in a success storyThe Black Bay is like a piece of well-oiled machinery for Tudor. Calibre 11 - History of an Iconic Movement (And Its Evolution) - In-Depth
1969 was a revolutionary year for watchmaking with the advent of the automatic chronograph with three distinct projects presented almost simultaneously. Fifty years down the line, Zenith has been celebrating the 50th anniversary of the El Primero with great fanfare, Seiko commemorates 50 years of automatic chronographs, and TAG Heuer pays tribute to its 50-year icon, the Monaco. It is now time for Dubois-Depraz to pay tribute to a movement that powered some of the most iconic sports chronographs: the Calibre 11 or Chronomatic.?The first wrist chronographs appeared in the early 20th century but these were powered with hand-wound movements for years. In the 1960s, watchmakers embarked on a genuine race to develop the first self-winding chronograph. Three parties started to develop their own projects, each with its own merits and its own technical vision. Zenith with the code-named 3019 PHC calibre, better known as the El Primero - The development of t
7 Women Industry Insiders Pick Top Watches For Under $1,000 (for both genders) - Monochrome Watches
Just in time for the holidays, we bring you seven great watches - for men and women - under USD1,000, as selected by women insiders in the watch industry. This article was initially conceived of in response to the male-insiders-only article written in the New York Times just over a week ago. For that article, entitled A Watch With Snob Appeal for Under $1,000? Six Watch Insiders Offer Picks the author opted to inquire about top watches under $1,000 as selected by 6 different men, including our Founder, Frank Geelen. We, at MONOCHROME, wanted to hear what women have to say on that topic too. Additionally, we can bring some choices for both men and women as well - something the men really can't do.Each of the women insiders weighing in here has been covering the watch industry for anywhere from 10 to 34 years - writing for some of the most prestigious watch?and consumer magazines in the world – making each a true industry insider. It should be noted that we understand that watches
Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph Titanium, Tantalum, Gold
If you think about the Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph, apart from the classic steel and blue dial version, the one model that should immediately come to mind is the tri-metal edition, a bold statement created in 1993, being one of the rare watches to use tantalum, combined with titanium and gold. The result, often nicknamed “The Beast”, was clearly something demonstrative that became iconic in the Seamaster collection. And yes, this unique combination of materials is back, with the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph Titanium, Tantalum and Gold. Modernised, of course. The 1993 version of the tri-metal Seamaster 300m Chronograph – Photo by Fratello WatchesThe watch we’re looking at now was first released in 1993 – remember that, back in the early 1990s, mechanical watchmaking was barely back on track. The prospect of creating an automatic diving chronograph using not one but three different metals was quite something. While the first Seamaster Diver
