Buying Guide - 6 new Yellow Gold Watches that Rock
When thinking of yellow gold, the first thing that may come to your mind is your parents’ or grandparents’ watch. Well, if you feel yellow gold is outdated, it might be time for a change. The status symbol of the 1960s to 1980s is making a comeback. As trends come and go, it fits perfectly in the current vintage craze – just like the unexpected comeback of the 1980s spirit in fashion and music. And interestingly, the way watchmakers use it today makes it look super chic and trendy. Here are 6 of the most notable yellow gold watches introduced recently.Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Extra-thin Yellow Gold 15202If the over-iconic Royal Oak was born a steel watch (in 1972, as the definitive Luxury Sports Watch), the yellow gold versions of the ref. 15202 presented at SIHH 2017 really rock – specifically the gold-on-gold version with champagne/gold petite tapisserie dial, gold hands and indexes. Dan Spitz, From Heavy Metal To High-End Watchmaking
I have always been fascinated by people capable of reinventing themselves. Talent can morph into the most unexpected directions. If you are into music, you are probably familiar with Anthrax, one of the most successful groups of the heavy metal scene. The man who has been their lead guitarist for years, Dan Spitz, has decided to undergo a reconversion and He's now a watchmaker! But he actually started taking apart movements when he was eight years old in his grandfather’s watch and jewellery store. He likes to describe himself as a third-generation watchmaker Spitz is also someone who pushes the limits in everything he undertakes. For what is our main concern, it translated into hig
Spotted - Hans Dieter Potsch, Chairman of Porsche SE, With IWC and Omega
For our latest instalment of “Spotted”, we are featuring Han Dieter Potsch. Potsch is the Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE. And on his wrist are watches that are linked to the cars he produces or to the world of motor racing (surprisingly…), by Omega and IWC/Porsche Design.Porsche SE is owned by the Porsche and Piech families, descendants of Porsche founder Ferdinand Porsche. Porsche SE holds a controlling interest in the Volkswagen Group which owns car manufacturers such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Volkswagen. Potsch is also Supervisory Board Chairman of the Volkswagen Group. Two of the watches owned by Mr Potsch caught my eye. The first is a lesser-seen IWC piece with a Porsche connection. Not just any old IWC, but one designed by Porsche Design and manufactured by IWC. Porsche Design was founded in 1972 by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, a grandson of Ferdinand Porsche. The watch in question is the Reference 3504 Porsche De

This new lineup follows last year’s Les Cabinotiers Recits de Voyage Collect but with a new source of inspiration.Asia: Four animals, wood marquetry and a tourbillonFor the chapter exploring Asian culture, Vacheron Constantin has chosen four sacred animals from Asian tradition to represent the seasons: the Azure Dragon for spring; the Vermilion Bird for summer; the White Tiger for autumn; and the Black Tortoise for winter. Presented in 42mm white or pink gold cases, these unique pieces are powered by the ultra-thin automatic calibre 2160 with a peripheral rotor. Their wood marquetry dials are graced by the ballet of the tourbillon at 6 o'clock.
