Introducing The Norqain Freedom 60 Chrono 40mm Ice Blue Limited Edition
We've looked at Norqain many times since its 2018 founding as the Swiss watches are both well thought and aesthetically pleasing, especially for such a young brand. It's no surprise as part of the team behind Norqain came from Breitling, including founder Ben Kuffer. The Freedom 60 Chrono was an early success with a bold 43mm case, but a more universal 40mm Chrono launched last year and has been a highlight of the brand. Norqain is now releasing a limited edition of the 40mm chronograph with an ice blue dial that should please fans of the prior models.?The stainless steel case hasn't changed, but there was no reason to modify this more compact Freedom 60 Chrono, a relatively new and best-selling design. As the name implies, it's 40mm in diameter with a height of 14.9mm (lug-to-lug is 49.2mm). A box-type AR sapphire crystal protects the dial and provides retro distortions at angles, while a sapphire exhibition case back displays the Sellita-based automatic. The case is polished with som
Raymond Weil Freelancer Titanium Chronograph - Full Review (live photos, specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
In a year that saw the passing of Raymond Weil's founder and namesake, the company's strong offerings signaled an enduring legacy. Musical appreciation and the arts, a continuous symbiosis with the company, likely led them to describe the Raymond Weil Freelancer?Titanium Chronograph as mezzo-piano, moderately soft. After several weeks of wear, we might choose mezzo-forte, moderately loud, for the bold character of its Freelancer roots, but the lightness of the Titanium does bring a softness to the wrist. When it comes to wide ranging versatility, this watch strikes the right note.Overall AppearanceFor a watch that is a sports chronograph, the Raymond Weil Freelancer?Titanium Chronograph also doubles as a debonair dress watch (13.7mm thick), giving it an immediate adaptability; a good all-in-one watch. In various activities, with a variety of clothes, this watch was at home. The only limitation, imperceptible to the eye, is its 10 ATM (100 meter) water resistance, which means its attrac
Six of the Coolest Military Issued or Field-Inspired Mechanical Watches - Monochrome Watches
In tactical combat missions or survival situations, soldiers depend on various instruments to complete their tasks and stay alive. For some missions, timing is essential, and as such, the watchmaking industry has always been a significant supplier to military forces, whether it is the Air Force or the Navy. Nowadays, most rely on digital instruments, but that hasn’t diminished the appeal of a good mechanical military issued or field-inspired watch. On the contrary, members of the armed forces have long proved the importance of the backup mechanical watch, and civilians love to rely on the tool-like properties often attributed to Mil-Spec watches as well. So much so that even today, various brands enjoy bringing back or reinterpreting historic military watches. With that in mind, here are six of the coolest ones now available.Tudor Pelagos FXDLast week, Tudor released a new version of its utilitarian Pelagos FXD. Sharing a history with both the US Navy and the Marine Nationale, th
Talking Watches, Blogging, Speedy Tuesday and Selling Watches with Fratello's Founder Robert-Jan Broer - Monochrome Watches
I guess you know Robert-Jan Broer, founder of the Fratellowatches online magazine, initiator of #SpeedyTuesday, and the Speedy Tuesday limited editions that OMEGA introduced in the past years. Robert-Jan and I met some fifteen years ago in The Hague, Netherlands, where both of us lived. We were both watch enthusiasts, and we craved more opportunities to talk about watches with like-minded folk. And both of us started a WordPress blog about the watches we loved so much, and for many years, we drove to Baselworld together. Robert-Jan got his Fratellowatches blog intertwined with Ebner Verlag, a German publishing house and later bought it back to team up with Chrono24. Over the past two years, Fratellowatches has gone from publishing to selling pre-owned watches, selling their own Limited Editions, and even new watches from some major watch brands. We’re talking with Robert-Jan Broer about his journey with Fratellowatches.? On the road to Basel… Who’
Hands-On - The new Louis Moinet Memoris Spirit (Specs & Price)
The Memoris was initially introduced?in 2016 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ateliers Louis Moinet and the 200th anniversary of the Compteur de Tierces, the innovative stopwatch created by the eponymous watchmaker. Instead of revealing the chronograph movement on the caseback, the Memoris transposes the chronograph mechanism to the dial. During Watches and Wonders 2022, the model returns in a modernised version marking a fitting design direction for the independent watchmaking brand. Meet the Louis Moinet Memoris Spirit. The Louis Moinet Memoris was designed as a tribute to the creation of a historic Louis Moinet creation, the Compteurs de Tierces. According to the markings on the case, this remarkable stopwatch was designed in 1815-1816 to time the passage of the stars – it measures time intervals to the 60th of a second with start, stop and reset functions. To reach this impressive precision, its balance wheel beats at a staggering 216,000 vibrations per hour!
