Longines' HydroConquest ceramic automatic 41mm is a divers' wristwatch. With double safety folding clasp coupled with a push-piece opening mechanism, the self-winding automatic mechanical timepiece has a power reserve of approximately sixty-four hours. The entire timepiece along with dial, bezel, and belt is drenched in sunray grey, further enhancing the rugged and sturdy look for the timepiece. The dial houses applied Arabic numerals and indexes working as hour markers, and a small window at 3 o' clock to help keep track of the date of the month.

Weekly Watch Photo: Lange & Sohne Datograph Up-Down - Monochrome-Watches
How shall?we define our Weekly Watch Photo series? Nice photos of nice watches. Today, though, we’ve taken it up a notch, with incredible photos of an incredible watch. Thanks to our friend Jacques-Olivier,?professional photographer of Passion-Horlogere, we are proud to show you the A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Up-Down and its stunning?movement. If the A. Lange & Sohne Double Split can be seen as the ‘uber Chrono’, its little brother Datograph may be the ‘Super Chrono’. Feast your eyes and enjoy this piece of mechanical art!The Datograph, alongside the Double Split, is part of the ‘Unrivalled Masterpieces’ collection. For a large part of the watch industry, we would agree with anyone saying that such a name is totally presumptuous. But when you’re standing before these A. Lange & Sohne chronographs for the first time, you understand that in their case, it is justified. The Datograph is a technically advanced flyback chronograph
Frank Geelen's Baselworld 2017 Top 10 and Musing about the Fair - Monochrome Watches
Back in 2008 the world faced a new challenge. The worldwide financial crisis began with the collapse of Lehman Brothers. The following year the watch industry was kind of nervous and saw a small drop in sales. And while the financial crisis went on, on a global scale (we’re still recovering from that), the big crisis in the watch industry didn’t really come through… yet. Last year was the first year that brands and luxury groups published numbers that showed serious signs of the crisis, and this year’s numbers are actually more than worrisome. This year the crisis could also be felt in the novelties as presented by?the brands, not only during the SIHH in January, but also at the 100th edition of the Baselworld Watch & Jewelry show that has just come to an end. Still, it was possible to list ten watches that got me exited! However first some musings about this year’s edition of Baselworld…Seiko 62Mas Re-edition SLA017 Ad - Scroll to con
The Ralph Lauren RL867 In New Sizes And Materials
The Ralph Lauren RL867 timepieces collection draws inspiration from the brand’s flagship men’s store at 867 Madison Avenue, New York. The store occupies a historic mansion built by Gertrude Rhinelander Waldo in 1898 as a residence, but she never got to live there. Her story and the story of the building on the corner of 72nd Street she commissioned with inherited money is well documented, with plenty of relevant newspaper clippings from Gertrude’s era available online. And there was an excellent piece published in 2010 in the New York Times, “Mrs Waldo’s Mysterious Mansion“, if you like this sort of stuff. The inspiration here is much more than just the store, but I’ll let you make your own opinion. What matters today, however, are the new editions launched in the Ralph Lauren RL867 Collection, with compact cases made of gold or sterling silver. The Ralph Lauren RL867 Collection was revealed to the public in 2009 at the SIHH in Geneva, along wit
Up Close With The High-Beat Low-Weight Longines Ultra-Chron Carbon
Longines is known to tread carefully in developing new watches, often delving into its hugely impressive archives to find inspiration for tons of fine heritage-related watches. It’s also a brand that doesn’t jump in unexpected directions, resulting in strange and inexplicable choices and subsequent releases.?So it’s fair to say this?Ultra-Chron Carbon took us by surprise, as it’s the very first time – that I know of – that Longines has ventured out of the field of metal cases and into a composite material. There simply has never been a watch from the Winged Hourglass like this before. More than enough reason to dive deeper into this lightweight, high-beat Ultra-Chron Carbon! The Ultra-Chron holds a special place in Longines’ extensive history. The name goes back to 1968 and thus predates Zenith’s famous high-beat El Primero automatic chronograph by a year. The reference 7970 (below, left), with which the Ultra-Chron was introduced, was a 2
Expert talk - The Montblanc 2015 Novelties with Suzanne Wong, Revolution Asia - VIDEO - Monochrome-Watches
Montblanc was without a doubt the most productive brand of the 2015 edition of the SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie). This is partially due to the arrival, in 2013, of Jerome Lambert, the new CEO (ex-Jaeger-LeCoultre) who?came with many new ideas to integrate Montblanc’s watchmaking activities and become a?manufacture with serious timekeeping collections. After the interview our editor Frank had with him, it’s now time to have the opinion of watch experts about the?Montblanc 2015 Novelties, and today we start with the influent Suzanne Wong from Revolution Asia.Suzanne Wong is the editor-in-chief of the renown print magazine Revolution Asia,?and influent contributor of Revo-Online (the online portal of the magazine). Although Suzanne lives in Singapore, you have a good chance of seeing her in Switzerland, visiting watch fairs or one of her favourite brands. Saying that she knows about watches is kind of an?euphemism. That’s the reason why having the?ope
