With a lustrous and elaborate display, this timepiece by Longines definitely lives up to the masculine taste in shades of black and silver. Built with ceramic bezel and polished stainless steel, the casing is further strengthened by anti-reflective coating and scratch-resistant glass. The central, rounded dial has illuminated hands and hour markers etched on a black, textured dial for a manly feel. It serves well in functionality due to a multitude of promising features like high-precision quartz movements, shock correction, magnetism correction, perpetual calendar, and end-battery indicator.

Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de vache 1955 Steel - Hands-On, Specs & Price
What you’re about to see might just be a simple change of material, but it is nevertheless great news – not only because the watch looks superb, not only because the price is significantly lower but also because it is a great strategic choice. When it was introduced back in 2015, the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 was an immediate success. Available in platinum or in pink gold until now, today it makes its debut in the hottest of all materials: Steel!Steel… It is surprising to see how ambivalent this material is. For most watches, steel is the sensible, rational choice of material; it is much more accessible than any other material, it is solid, it is resistant to external aggressions, and it is easy to machine and finish. In short, a no-nonsense choice driven by pragmatism. But that’s for the masses… When it comes to high-end watches, steel is the exception. When it comes to non-sports watches, Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin or
Comparing the old and new IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar - Monochrome-Watches
We at Monochrome obviously love IWC watches. Especially when it comes to their iconic pieces. The IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar is such a piece. First introduced in 2003, this watch has been subject to minor changes every couple of years, without dramatically changing its recognizable identity. So, it's now time for us to compare the brand new 2015 edition with the previous version, and to see what changes can been seen – or maybe be unseen?Throwback - The Perpetual Calendar by IWC WatchesIWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition in stainless steelHow did the perpetual calendar by IWC get its iconic status? When you are trying to understand why a watch gained so much fame, you have to understand its historical importance. In the case of the IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar, this importance was not actually gained by a Portuguese watch, but rather by the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar, a watch that rather shocked the industry. This Da Vinci Ref. 3570 was first introduced
Oris Aquis Date with new colors to perform in the deep (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
When you have the concept of a rugged and functional dive watch in mind, with great quality and for a relatively affordable price, the Oris Aquis Date has to be on your wish-list. No debate, this watch is good for what it has been designed for – and it’s also a pleasant watch on a daily basis (even professional divers spend some time on land…). Although we thought it to perform well, it seems that Oris had some improvements to make, and this year, they add 2 new colors and dials designed to perform in the hostile conditions found deep underwater.Underwater, the notion of color has to be seen on a completely different level. For instance, red, which is a bright and highly visible color on earth, totally disappear when underwater, and at just 5m down to the sea. On the other hand, some other colors, like blue for instance, remain?highly visible, even at 200m. Aware of this issue, Oris looked at how they could make a diver's watch as legible and therefore as safe as poss
Introducing the VicenTerra Luna - Monochrome Watches
Some three years ago we first introduced you to VicenTerra, a new watch brand that launched their first timepiece, the VicenTerra GMT-3, via pre-registering. All GMT-3’s of the pre-registration, which were sold for 1/3th of the normal retail price, have been delivered and we’ve seen some photos of happy new owners on the web. Now VicenTerra have opened a new pre-registration for their second timepiece, the VicenTerra Luna. The pre-registration is actually a Kickstarter-like method and this has proven to be a successful formula for VicenTerra. Developing your own complications requires a serious budget. The fact that?Vincent Plomb, the founder of VicenTerra, is a constructor and develops the complication modules himself, definitely cuts a large part of the costs. However starting the production still requires funds and through the registration you can secure one of the limited edition: red gold, yellow gold, white gold or stainless steel. De Rijke Watches & Co. Amalfi Series I - a Drivers Watch with a Rotating Case - Monochrome Watches
A category not often touched upon, as eligible entries are few and far between, are driver's watches. Seasoned watch geeks or serious collectors might recall the Vacheron Constantin Historique American 1921, or even the MB&F HM8 Can-Am. However, we might have a more affordable solution to driving, preferably fast, and not having to take your hand off the steering wheel. Introducing Dutch start-up De Rijke Watches & Co.’s Amalfi Series I.Straddling his vintage Vespa moped, Laurens de Rijke travelled through eastern Europe right after graduating as an industrial engineer from the Technical University of Delft, the Netherlands, along with some friends. During his adventures, he stumbled upon a local flea market. Meandering through the stalls, he spotted a vintage mechanical Vostok which he bought to keep track of time while riding his Vespa.
