Taking a look at the brilliant GTO Engineering California Spyder Revival
What if I told you, you can own one of the most desired and rare Ferrari convertibles ever made, for a fraction of what it's actually worth? You'd be having a laugh, right? Or at least think I was a bit out there. But truth be told there is a way to own a Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB for the measly sum of 1 million USD. And that, my fellow Petrolheads, is a bargain considering the value of an actual Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder SWB is about 16 times that. How is this possible? Through an as close to perfect as you can get Revival program by UK-based Ferrari specialists GTO Engineering. Now, in all fairness, this intro is to be taken lightly of course. About 99.9% of us will never be able to shell out a million dollars for a car, let alone 18 million for one. That is only something to be considered by the 1 per cent, of the 1 per cent of the very rich. But as the past revival or resto-mod projects we’ve featured have taught us the price usually goes up by quite a margin
Watch of the Year 2017 with CH24.pl and the Special Jury Prize for #SpeedyTuesday - Monochrome Watches
For several years I've been a member of the jury of the Watch Of The Year in Poland, organised by our friends of CH24.pl. Last week was the gala award ceremony, as per usual held in the beautiful?Sobanski's Palace in Warsaw. Last year we celebrated the many prize winner, and especially the Gronefeld brothers who won no less than two prizes! This year the Special Jury Award went to a fellow Dutchman and that's #SpeedyTuesday founder Robert-Jan Broer.?This year was already the eight edition of the Polish Watch Of The Year,?always with a transparent set of rules and an international jury. While this might not be the Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Geneva (GPHG), one should not underestimate the importance of this award, as it is certainly a good indication of the most important watches of the year. This year no less than 60 timepieces had been pre-selected, in six different categories, and over 12,000 casted their votes for the Public Prize category! Ad - Scroll to continue with ar
Hands-On Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe Valentine Day 2023
Valentine's Day is a marketing opportunity for many watch brands and the perfect occasion to launch special editions. Blancpain has been producing Valentine's Day models for more than two decades, with watches decked out in diamonds and red accents, like these Villeret or Ladybird models. This year, Blancpain turns to another collection to celebrate the most romantic day of the year. Marking a first for the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe collection, Blancpain has singled out a 38mm diver for a romantic makeover with a prevalence of white and pink tones and a red heart marking the seconds.BathyscapheThe Bathyscaphe of 1956 is the civilian offspring of Blancpain's Fifty Fathoms, the watch that was adopted by military diving corps and regarded as the blueprint for modern dive watches. Named after August Piccard's deep-water diving vessel, Blancpain added a date complication to make it more practical for daily wear. Although initially designed for separate clientele, the two lines eventually me

A tribute to all-round racing driver 'Quick' Vic Elford.
Earlier this week, news broke of the passing of Quick Vic' Victor Henry Elford, at the age of 86. Vic Elford was one of those drivers that pretty much raced anything that had four wheels, an engine and a steering wheel. With a career starting in a Triumph TR3A, he is most known for his successes at the wheel of various Porsche cars, both on and off-road. Basically, if you would have put Vic Elford into a racing car, chances would have been he'd be competing for the win. And with that in mind, I feel it is fitting to pay the man a little tribute in today's Petrolhead Corner.‘Quick’ Vic Elford – 1935-2022 – Image by Total911.comVictor Henry Elford started racing at the age of 26, which was considered rather late at the time. During his career, which spanned more than two decades, he raced in everything from Mini to Triumph, Ford, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari, Lola, Cooper, Chaparral and more. He was a Porsche-works driver for 5 years, which saw him achieve his bigg
