Collector's Series - @khemkakunal and his Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Manual-Winding
If you look at Kunal's account on Instagram (@khemkakunal), the word “seasoned collector” immediately comes to mind. Indeed, Kunal P. Khemka, a real watch enthusiast from India and a 44-year-old businessman, has the knowledge and the taste when it comes to choosing what to strap around his wrist – with a clear bias on elegant and refined pieces. Today, we discuss his Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Manual-Winding reference 82172.? However, when he bought it in 2011, it was still called the Patrimony Traditionnelle Manual-Winding. We found out why this is his favourite watch.Kunal grew up in a typical Indian extended family, which included his grandparents, uncle and aunt, their kids, in addition to his parents and sister. Kunal's uncle (his father's younger brother, to be precise) was (and still is) crazy about watches, especially Vacheron Constantin. Through him, Kunal had his first introduction to watches, and to Vacheron Constantin.?Frank Geelen, MONOCHROME R

Vintage Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox International - Monochrome Watches
When Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced the Memovox International, earlier this year, I had no idea it had an ancestor. However while browsing Ebay last night, I found a beautiful vintage version of the Memovox International. I never saw the old version before, but it looks great. Check it out.At SIHH 2010 Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced?the Master Memovox International, originally created for the brand's 125th anniversary in 1958 and also known as the Memovox Worldtimer. The alarm disk on both Memovox versions features different cities and regions. Besides this, the brand name on the dial is probably the only similarity. The new version is fitted with calibre 956, featuring a large free-sprung balance and a winding rotor on ceramic ball bearings that needs no lubrication or maintenance. Inside the vintage Memovox Worldtimer ticks of course another movement (calibre 2612.1). Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Baume (without 'et Mercier') is Richemont's new Value Proposition - Monochrome Watches
Yesterday Richemont announced the creation of a new watch brand named Baume. That’s right, Baume, without ‘et Mercier’, is being lined up as the new Value Proposition from the Richemont Group. Over the past years, Baume et Mercier was positioned as the affordable luxury brand from the group, with pricing that did not always match this slogan. So it’s now up to Baume to fill the segment of €500 to €1,000 Euros, a segment that’s completely new to the Richemont Group. Baume will be offering?cheap affordable Asian movements (mainly quartz and a mechanical Miyota), lots of eco-friendly materials and an online configurator. This sounds like a familiar recipe, one that we’ve heard before from many Kickstarter brands. Sounds… hipster?!? According to the information we got, Baume will start with two collections, the? Iconic collection (with a mechanical Miyota movement) and later there will be a collection of Limited Editions. The other option, at this p
Only Watch 2015 - Unique Ulysse Nardin Only Watch Stranger Ref. 6903-125/OW - Monochrome-Watches
Watches that actually ‘sing‘ are?something quite usual in the watchmaking industry – even if those watches that we call a repeater are usually requiring very deep pockets. These watches strike the time on demand (in order to have an indication of time without looking at the watch but only by hearing the sound of the chimes). Ulysse Nardin, which are?not known to be the worst watchmakers of Switzerland, have something slightly different to offer, a watch that doesn’t strike the time but that properly (and mechanically) plays music. The Ulysse Nardin Stranger is unique on its own and become even more special now, as for Only Watch 2015, the brand just created a one-of-a-kind piece that plays Rock ‘n’ Roll.Only by the action of a mechanical device, the Ulysse Nardin Only watch Stranger is able to play one of the most iconic rock ballads?of the legendary music band Queen: ‘We are the Champions’,?written by Freddie Mercury.
