SIHH 2015 - Baume & Mercier Classima - Hands-On with live photos, specs and price - Monochrome-Watches
Baume & Mercier is known for its simple, elegant and?interesting offer. Especially made to be gifted – to celebrate a graduation, a success or any nice event of a life – they are perfect daily watches for those who just want a reliable and pleasant companion. One of the collections is truly inspired by this concept. It’s called the Baume & Mercier Classima and for the SIHH 2015, it receives?a interesting?update.?Compared to the rest of the brand owned by the Richemont Group (that also holds Lange & Sohne, Jaeger-Lecoultre or IWC), Baume & Mercier could?be seen mainly as the entry-level brand. For sure, if you look at the rest of the Richemont portfolio, B&M is far from the crowd of ultra-complicated and highly-priced watches. However, Baume & Mercier should not be relegated to a low-end status. It offers the opportunity to enter the world of classic, timeless and elegant watches for a reasonable price and answers to a demand of timepieces made
Hands-on with the Zenith El Primero 410 Triple Calendar and MoonPhase now in blue with price (and cool cufflinks) - Monochrome-Watches
The Zenith El Primero is a very nice watch. There no point of disagreement for us. And when it comes with a triple calendar and a moon phase, displayed in a ‘vintage’ style and legible layout, it become an even better watch. This?timepiece?is called the Zenith El Primero 410 and for Baselworld 2015, it comes in a new limited edition with a cool blue dial (yes, blue is again is very popular this year). In addition, because we’re proper watch nerds here at Monochrome, we found something cool to match with?this watch: matching solid silver hand-made cufflinks depicting the El Primero.A bit of history…The Zenith El Primero movement was revealed in?1969. It was at that time the first – or to be precise and not to engage long fights between collectors – one of the first automatic chronograph movement – together with the Heuer-Breitling-Hamilton-Buren Calibre 11 and the Seiko 6139. Even experts do not entirely agree on who was first and there are quit
Throwback To The Thinnest Minute Repeater, the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater - Monochrome Watches
Until you have it on your wrist it's hard to appreciate just how thin the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater really is. Introduced back in 2016, it measures a mere 6.85mm thick cased up, with the complicated movement inside accounting for only 3.12mm of that. By way of comparison, a British one pound coin is 3.15mm thick! As interesting a model as it is however, it was just one of those watches that for one reason or another, we didn't get a chance to cover in detail here on Monochrome. As they say though, better late than never. So here – one year late – is our in-depth, hands-on look at the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater.World Record(s) HolderBy all accounts, the measurements quoted above are enough to decisively name the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater as the world's thinnest minute repeater now in production (back in the days,?Genta developed a 2.72mm repeater movement, which quickly proved unreliable). This is no doubt a very impressive feat in and o
First Look: The new Omega Constellation 41mm Meteorite Collection
One of the oldest collections in Omega’s history, the Constellation has been around since 1952 (only surpassed in longevity by the Seamaster). First a classic, elegant chronometer-rated watch, the Omega Constellation drastically changed in the 1980s with the introduction of the Constellation Manhattan distinguished by its integrated design and hallmark claws. Revived in 2019 with a feminine collection, followed in 2020 by 39mm men’s models, the range that matters today is the Omega Constellation Gent's Collection 41mm, released 4 years ago. Already appealing, with its cleverly modernised design, 5 new references now join the collection. And there’s more to these watches than just the meteorite dials.?The current Omega Constellation collection comprises a wide array of versions, ranging from compact feminine versions, including editions with a small seconds display, mid-size models for men with a 39mm diameter and, at the top of the range, slightly bolder, more technic
Only Watch 2015 - Unique Zenith El Primero Striking 10th Lightweight Tribute to the Rolling Stones - Monochrome-Watches
Apart from the crazy complicated creations offered for Only Watch 2015 – like the unique Patek Philippe 5016 (with a minute repeater, a tourbillon and a QP) or the music machine by Ulysse Nardin – this charity auction held by Phillips Watches on November 7th, 2015 will also show the opportunity to bet on more?affordable?but iconic watches – but of course, in unique editions. Tudor will come with a one-of-a-kind Black Bay and now Zenith introduces its unique edition of the legendary El Primero. Here is the?Zenith El Primero Striking 10th Lightweight Tribute to the Rolling Stones for Only Watch 2015.When we say legendary, it’s with no doubt what the Zenith El Primero is – whatever the edition. In fact, it’s not really the watch itself that is an icon but more the movement that has to be praised, as this caliber was in 1969 part of the world’s first automatic chronographs?triad?(together with the Heuer Calibre 11 and the Seiko 6139). However, the
