Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary SLGH002 new Calibre 9SA5 - Specs & Price
We didn't expect anything less. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Grand Seiko launches its new hi-beat mechanical calibre 9SA5, the foundation stone for an entirely new generation of Grand Seiko watches. Representing an advancement as revolutionary as the first calibre 9S of 1998 – the base movement powering all watches in the Grand Seiko (barring Spring Drive) collection to date – the new 9SA5 maintains the high-beat frequency but extends the power reserve and adds an extremely rare Dual Impulse Escapement. Making its inaugural voyage onboard the newly designed yellow gold time-and-date Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary SLGH002, the watch will be available at Grand Seiko boutiques in August 2020.Raising the stakes with the 9SA5The challenge for Seiko's development team was to deliver the same level of stable accuracy found in the existing high-beat 36,000vph movement (the 9Sxx?hi-beat family) but extend the power reserve from 55 hours to 80 hours and slim down the movement. Introducing: Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon SR_A by Samuel Ross
As the first brand to espouse the concept of fusing disparate materials like gold and rubber, Hublot has taken “fusion” to the next level, reworking some of its icons with top-tier contemporary artists like Richard Orlinski, Maxime-Plescia-Buchi (aka Sang Bleu), Shepard Fairey and Murakami. The latest collaboration has been percolating in the lab for three years and responds to a design by Samuel Ross, the multi-talented British designer, creative director and artist. Taking the Big Bang Tourbillon as a base, Samuel Ross has unleashed his creative juices to produce a sculptural watch that mimics certain geometric patterns found in Nature and carved in lightweight titanium. It's hard to pigeonhole Dr Samuel Ross, but for starters, the title in his name corresponds to a doctorate in art, not medicine. Born in Brixton, London, Ross' artistic domain encompasses painting, sculpture, furniture and industrial design, and fashion. Founder of A-Cold-Wall and SR_A, his design language
IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42 IW3442 // Hands-On, Specs, Price
This year at IWC Schaffhausen the iconic Portugieser family is in the spotlight. One of the novelties is the IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42. Smaller in size with a simpler layout of the calendar information, the new Perpetual Calendar 42 is a toned-down, more moderate and less expensive younger brother of the existing 44mm Perpetual Calendar. Still fitted with Kurt Klaus's ingenious perpetual calendar module, the movement is a more compact, robust automatic derived from IWC’s 82000 calibre family. We have been lucky enough to enjoy some hands-on time with these two new models (steel and rose gold with silver dials) just ahead of the ‘virtual' launch of Richemont Group's novelties today.Kurt Klaus’ Perpetual CalendarIn the early 1980s, Kurt Klaus set out to translate the Gregorian calendar with its many irregularities into a mechanical programme for a wristwatch. His ingenious perpetual calendar, which debuted in the Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar in 1985, comprise

First Look: The New Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon Titanium
Incarnating Vacheron Constantin’s sophisticated vision of a luxury sports watch, the Overseas has its roots in the 222, a 1977 model designed to celebrate the brand's 222nd anniversary. Following a major overhaul in 2016, the brand released the third generation Overseas with a host of complications and a versatile interchangeable strap and bracelet system. The tourbillon complication was incorporated in 2019. Following editions in steel, white gold and rose gold, Vacheron announces a new version clad in titanium from head to toe. Identical to former editions, including the signature Overseas blue dial colour, the novelty for 2024 is the choice of a material.Titanium – which is 30% more resistant than steel and only half its weight - is not new to the Overseas family and has been used in limited editions in the past. Two special Overseas Everest editions for mountaineer Cory Richards were produced with titanium elements combined with other materials. In 2002, the brand offer
