Recap: The Best Chronograph Watches of 2023
The end of the year is near, so it's time for the MONOCHROME team to sit down and look back at everything that happened during what was objectively a rich year for new models There was a lot, with so many new watches launched in all categories and all price ranges. Today, we kick off a series of buying guides representing our selection of what we think are the best watches in each category, starting with one of our all-time favourite functions and probably one that so many watch enthusiasts appreciate: the chronograph. From classic to innovative, vintage or ultra-modern According to the MONOCHROME team, here are the Best Chronograph Watches of 2023.We have compiled over 250 articles under the “chronograph” tag this year. Narrowing down this selection to a handful of models wasn’t easy, believe me. Some will be missed, but the process involved a team vote, and we had to make some concessions. And the result is these five watches… Objectively and historically, all
Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum 311-93-42-30-99-001 - Introducing
The wait is over! On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing, we now know which watch is featuring the re-edition of the iconic movement Omega 321 – a movement as legendary as the Moonwatch itself. Announced earlier this year, this movement is going to equip one of the most high-end Speedy models ever. Meet the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum. Some might have expected Omega to come out with something slightly different on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing. We, at MONOCHROME, anticipated an ultra-limited version of the watch worn by astronauts on board Apollo 11 – the Speedmaster Professional 105.012. Well, what Omega is launching is slightly different, not vintage-oriented and extremely high-end marking the first time that the re-edition of the calibre 321 is implemented into the case of a watch. Buying Guide - Best of 2021, Our Favourite Traveller's Watches of the Year
Even though in the past 2 years (already…) we’ve not been able to use them as much as we would have loved to, traveller’s watches still are some of the most practical timepieces you can imagine. Somehow a must-have in a collection. And they can take multiple forms, from the classic GMT-style, with central 24h hand, to the dual-time watch with an additional indication (sub-dial or window) or finally the more complex world-timer. Certainly, due to the current situation, we haven’t seen that many traveller’s watches this year but still, there was more than enough for us to debate and to come up with this list of our favourite models introduced in 2021.?Editor's note: this list reflects the preferences of MONCHROME's editorial team and results from an internal vote. This list is, of course, non-exhaustive and remains subjective. If there are other GMT, dual-time or world-time watches launched in 2021 that made an impression on you, feel free to share your thou
The most beautiful watch winders of the world - Monochrome Watches
What happens if the producer of the most luxurious vaults in the world joins forces with a producer of components and customized refinements for customers such as Aston-Martin or Bugatti? Yep… they created something incredibly cool. Is this perhaps the most beautiful and luxurious watch winder?Well, maybe it isn’t the most luxurious. That honor goes to the Gigantis that was featured by our friends of TheSydneyTarts and which is made by the same people, Kudoe Schli & Matz. Maybe they don’t deserve the prize for the best company name, but luxury watch winders is their business and they really impressed us.Until now they produced three models, all with a very different design, but also with some things in common. And that’s is the incredible attention for detail and making no compromises when it comes to choosing for the ultimate luxury watch winders. Ad - Scroll to continue with article
Introducing: The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy, Now In Stainless Steel
When Oris released a Divers Sixty-Five series with surprisingly bright-coloured dials a couple of years ago, it hit the right note, and the pink, light blue and green bronze models became successful and are still very much in trend. A year later, in 2022, the watchmaker from Holstein added equally bright-coloured Perlon straps to the assortment (first Cotton Candy Divers were offered on a multi-piece bronze metal bracelet or a leather strap), and it was only a question of time before we would see a stainless-steel version. Bronze and its patina have a great fan base, sure, but steel still rules, and we welcome the new stainless steel Divers Sixty-Five Cotton Candy references by Oris, just in time for summer.Inspired by the iconic Oris dive watch of the 1960s, the Oris Divers Sixty-Five collection combines vintage dive watch aesthetics with a modern touch. Until the Cotton Candy series, this collection evoked a sense of nostalgia and adventure. Fun, too, but never so sweet. While the Di
