Breitling Chronomat 44mm Blacksteel Special Edition - Looking Into The Past And The Present Of This Extraordinary Line of Sport Chronographs - Monochrome Watches
Breitling was founded in 1884 and right from the start the company specialised in chronographs. In fact?it’s fair to say that many of the modern-day chronograph characteristics?we know and love can be attributed – at least in part – to developments undertaken by?the company. In 1942, Breitling introduced the first watch with a circular slide rule, the Chronomat. Some years later (1954) the legendary Navitimer made its debut. The focus of today’s article however is on the Chronomat, perhaps one of, if not, the most commercially successful Breitling model?of the past sixty years. Contrary to popular?belief, it is the Chronomat not the Navitimer that has proven to be Breitling's biggest seller. Today we’re taking a closer look at?the latest iteration, the?Chronomat Black Steel 44 SE. First though, some background. What is the Chronomat? It is generally accepted that the Chronomat made its public sales debut in 1942 and this is the date that has been quoted for
The Cloche de Cartier 2021, in the Prive Collection
Cartier's famed Collection Privee Cartier Paris (CPCP) was the jeweller's answer to the growing demand for men's timepieces with high-quality mechanical calibres. Launched at SIHH in 1998, the CPCP was intended to showcase Cartier's most iconic designs, including the Santos Dumont, Tortue, Tonneau, Tank Basculante, Tank Asymetrique and Cloche, among others. Due to lukewarm sales, the collection was phased out after a decade. Harking back to the CPCP, Cartier's Collection Prive was quietly launched in 2017 and has, over the last four years, been used as a platform to release numbered and limited edition runs of Cartier's iconic case shapes, starting with the Crash in the line's inaugural year. The Crash was followed by the Tank Cintree, the Tonneau, and the Asymetrique in the succeeding years. 2021 marks the Cloche's turn in the spotlight. An early version of the Cloche de CartierThe cloche shape (French for bell) made its first appearance in the house of Cartier as a diamond and onyx wa

As you can imagine, with such a long history and so many iconic versions,?every new Speedmaster carries the spirit and design inspiration of the models that came before. As a preview of the future collection that will come at Baselworld 2017, the Biel-based brand shows this concept with the new?Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer, with a dial that refers to?a 1968 Speedmaster model (the Racing-Dial Speedmaster), yet with modern size and features. This new?Omega Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer is based on the already known 44.25mm automatic version of the Speedmaster (not the iconic 42mm “Moonwatch” case), with a stainless case and the in-house chronograph movement of the brand. Yet, some evolutions, and not only visual ones, are to be noted. While the architecture of the movement remains the same as before – an integrated, column-wheel, v
Deep Divers - Dive Watches that go 1000m and beyond - Monochrome Watches
Dive watches are some of the most beloved and popular timepieces. In the 1960s, the military and professional diving requirements, together?with the growing popularity of scuba diving, made the importance of trustworthy subaquatic instruments paramount.?The first modern dive watches were born to monitor dive times in the briny depths. The hardiest of them can withstand the pressure at the bottom of the Marianas Trench (even though we are talking concept watches here). Their depth rating by far exceeds your most extreme needs, but there is something fascinating about their extreme engineering. And a rugged dive watch has always been a symbol of the adventurer in us all. Here are six dive watches that can fathom depths of 1000m and beyond released in the past few years.Note: Naturally, this is a non-exhaustive list so do not hesitate to mention your?favourite members in this category! Deepsea ref. 126660The extreme-depth received a facelift at Baselworld 2018. The essence of this prof
