Industry New - Swatch Group 2020 Results, Strong Impact of Pandemic
The watch industry has taken a big hit during the pandemic. Swatch Group has just released its 2020 results and, as expected, these have been severely impacted. At CHF 5,595 million, net sales are down 28.7% at constant exchange rate and 32.1% at current rates. The second half of 2020 showed a gradual improvement of the activity: net sales were down 14.3% compared with the previous year and Swatch mentions a “strong December despite renewed lockdowns in important markets such as Germany and Great Britain“.Although the industry situation remains uncertain, Swatch Group anticipates a “strong catch-up in consumption worldwide for watches and jewelry in 2021” and hopes to see its sales return close to 2019 levels. Swatch Group also hopes to capitalize on

Video - The Ulysse Nardin Marine Torpilleur Collection at Geneva Watch Days 2021
Last week, during the 2021 edition of the Geneva Watch Days, we enjoy the ability to visit brands and discovering their latest creation, in the metal (something that has been unfortunately rare in the past 2 years). Since we were able to touch and feel these new watches, we also took the time to talk with the teams behind their creation and we’ve already published multiple videos on MONOCHROME. And to continue with our live report of the GWD, we visited Ulysse Nardin, the specialist of the Marine Chronometers. And what’s better than a complete capsule collection of Marine Torpilleur watches to celebrate this jubilee…? We have Jean-Christophe Sabatier, Chief Product Officer at Ulysse Nardin, giving us all the details about these watches that couldn’t be more UN.Ulysse Nardin founded his eponymous brand in 1846 in Le Locle, Switzerland. And even though having a large portfolio of high-end watches, the brand is mostly revered for its precision marine chronometers.
Oris Carysfort Reef Limited Edition Steel - Hands-On, Price
The figures speak for themselves: over the last 30 years, scientists calculate that 50% of the world's coral reefs have died and without direct action could be extinct in 80 years. Coral reefs are now the most endangered ecosystems on the planet and their extinction would mark the first time humanity has faced the loss of an entire ecosystem. The upside of these gloomy facts is that coral can be saved. Oris has taken a special interest in different foundations that are restoring the life of coral reefs by allocating a percentage of sales generated with these limited edition watches. Last year, Oris supported the Reef Restoration Foundation with the Great Barrier Reef watch. The partnership with Coral Restoration Foundation (CRF) dates back to 2014. This year, Oris renews its commitment to CRF and in January 2020 released the Carysfort Reef Limited Edition, the brand’s first watch in solid gold. Today, a second Carysfort Reed model is released in stainless steel. The watch is a li
