Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver Khaki - Hands-On, Price
You are all familiar with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver, a piece that has been in the ROO collection since 2010 designed for action men who want a robust companion for their extreme sports/lifestyle. What was once considered a big bad boy watch back in 1993 has now settled down and even its dimensions have become the accepted norm for sports watches. Every so often, AP refreshes its diver with new colour combinations. Today we'll be looking at the khaki Royal Oak Offshore Diver unveiled along with three other models in 2018.The Genesis of the Royal Oak OffshoreIt's hard to be the descendant of a living legend. I can only imagine 22-year-old Emmanuel Gueit's look of shock when Stephen Urquhart, then joint managing director of Audemars Piguet, gave him a brief in 1989 to design a new version of the Royal Oak that would attract a younger crowd. The original idea was to launch the watch in 1992 to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Royal Oak. Without revisiting the mu
Designing Time with Creativity and Haute Horlogery: Part 1 - 4N - Monochrome Watches
In the small world of independent watchmaking, competition is tough. Not only do you have to compete with big names, such as Richard Mille, Greubel Forsey or MB&F, you also have to offer “that little something extra” that makes your creation extraordinary. Innovation in this realm of specialists can be found in a profusion of complications or in a strong design, like a new way to display time. In a two-part story we’re going to introduce two amazing timepieces from two brilliant and innovative watch brands: 4N and Cabastan. Today, in part 1, we’ll start with 4N.When you think about reading the time, you will almost certainly imagine a round circle with three hands running on it - or four black numbers on a green screen if you lean digital and are still stuck in the 80's. Of course some complications in Haute Horlogery - and even in common Horlogery – have been created to offer some new ways to read time: jumping hours displayed in a window, retrograde
Celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Omega name with Jubilee Watches - Special De Ville Tresor and Reborn Original Calibre 19-ligne - Monochrome Watches
125 years ago, a Swiss watch manufacture started to use its commercial name and became one of the most iconic, most sought-after names in the industry. Not a new brand per se, this watch manufacture took its name from its emblematic movement, a 19-ligne hand-wound calibre fitted in pocket watches: the Calibre Omega. As you’ve guessed, the name Omega celebrates its 125th anniversary today, and the brand has every reason to celebrate.A brand named after its emblematic movementToday marks the 125th anniversary of the name Omega but not of the manufacture?itself. Omega was established on the roots of the Louis Brandt manufacture, founded by Mr Brandt in 1848.?At that time, the business existed only as a small workshop, opened by the young watchmaker Louis Brandt in the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Brandt quickly gained a reputation for his precise and reliable movements.?After Louis Brandt's death in 1879, his two sons - Louis-Paul and Cesar - took over the family business.

Panerai Luminor Due 3 Days Titanio 42mm PAM00728 - Hands-On Review (Specs & Price)
Much to our satisfaction, we have seen smaller watches re-emerged over the past few years. Even Panerai, known to be on the large side, has been downsizing its iconic design, with its 42mm Luminor Due, which is now offered for the first time in a handsome, light-weight titanium version. We go hands-on with the slender PAM00728 or Panerai Luminor Due 3 Days Titanio 42mm.The elegant Panerai Luminor Due was introduced back in 2016, providing a dressy option in the Italian maker collection. The 42mm Due retains the classic, iconic Luminor styling but in a smaller, thinner version. The case has a great balance. It is superbly shaped with its signature bridge protecting the crown and drilled lugs. It is unmistakably Panerai but different. It is slender, sitting just great under your cuff and it wears super comfortable, which is especially true for the lightweight titanium version. Not to mention the look that is simply stunning - at least for those who like Panerai watches Ad - Sc
