Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin Tourbillon RD#3 26670ST
The Royal Oak 50th-anniversary party is not over yet. In January this year, Audemars Piguet feted the half-century?of its iconic Royal Oak with a host of celebratory models, including a 41mm Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon powered by a recent calibre developed for the brand's Code 11.59 collection. What we are seeing today is also a Royal Oak Flying Tourbillon but one that will excite watch purists because it is the first Jumbo in fifty years to be fitted with an ultra-thin flying tourbillon movement. The challenge for AP's watchmakers and engineers was to accommodate a complication reserved for 41mm ROs inside the smaller 39mm Jumbo case. Given the technical solutions developed by the team to create the new ultra-thin calibre 2968, the Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Extra-Thin 26670ST?is catalogued as Audemars Piguet's third Research & Development project.JumboThe Jumbo is the closest you can get to Gerald Genta's original stainless steel Royal Oak. Distinguished by its octag

Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver Reedition
About a week ago, we introduced you to a rather cool watch, the Nivada Grenchen Depthmaster, which marked the return of a highly original and important model in dive watch history. What's even more noticeable is the fact that the name Nivada Grenchen, a niche but cult brand specialized in instrumental pieces, is coming back. Finally, the best news is that the most iconic watch ever produced by the brand, the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver, has been faithfully re-edited. Let's have a closer look at this vintage-inspired watch, modelled after what was once named the Super Chronograph.Nivada GrenchenNivada was founded in Grenchen (Granges), Switzerland in 1926 by Otto Wullimann, Hermann Schindler and Jack Schneider. The company remained under the control of the Schneider family until its 50th anniversary in 1976. From the earliest days, the company focused on instrument watches that went beyond the simple indication of the time – among the first to offer water-resistance, automatic
A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Timezone - a Personal Story part 1 - Monochrome Watches
The German watch brand A. Lange & Sohne has played an important role in my watch-collecting (and blogging) life. I?admired the brand, and as I got to know them, and their watches, even better, my admiration only grew stronger. I guess that most serious collectors will say the same about the brand. Since we’re celebrating Monochrome’s tenth anniversary this year, it’s also a good moment to look back at some important moments. Moments that have defined me as a collector, and moments that have played a pivotal role for Monochrome. Lange was present in a major way at two of these important moments, and inspired this two-part story. Today I’m gonna look back at a weekend when I got extensive hands-on time (and I’m not talking about the few?minutes to try a watch at the local authorised retailer) with watches from this German brand, and next week I’ll look back at a magnificent weekend I got to spend with them at Lake Como in Northern Italy.?I guess, f
The Ubercool Tudor Pelagos FXD Now Comes In Black
The diving heritage of Tudor can be basically split into two chapters. On one end you have the very retro-inspired Black Bay line-up, and on the other end the more professional Pelagos collection. Either of the two are fan-favourites and perform very well in most circumstances in life. But, in a surprising twist, two years ago Tudor released a very special take on the Pelagos with the Pelagos FXD. This watch paid tribute to past watches used by Combat divers and was developed with the Marine Nationale, the French Navy. It had fixed lugs and a special inverted diving scale on the bidirectional bezel. Now though, Tudor introduces a new take on the Pelagos FXD, in a black colour scheme and with a regular bezel. The case is yet again machined out of titanium and measures 42mm in diameter and 12.75mm in thickness. From lug end to lug end, you’re looking at 52mm in length. On top of the titanium case is a titanium rotating bezel, unidirectional instead of bidirectional. The black cerami
