Introducing the MB&F HMX for the 10th anniversary of the brand (Specs & price) - Monochrome-Watches
It’s 10 years already that MB&F – meaning Max Busser and his friends – have been creating incredible horological machines. We say machines and not watches, simply because what they have done is far from traditional watchmaking. IWC Introduces The Big Pilot G63 In Armor Hold and Ceramic Matrix Composite
IWC Schaffhausen has been partners with Mercedes and its AMG sub-brand for quite some time now, both through the road cars and its Formula 1 team, Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1. The two brands seem to complement each other in multiple ways, often taking style and innovation in new directions. IWC’s flagship model, the iconic Big Pilot is today’s topic of choice for a new set of watches inspired by the military-vehicle-turned-ultra-luxury-SUV by Mercedes, the G-Wagon. IWC has transferred elements of the top-of-the-range Mercedes-AMG G63 onto the new IWC Schaffhausen Big Pilot G63, which comes in two very distinct materials. The new G63 is first and foremost based on the legendary Big Pilot, which means a rather impressive case of 46.5mm in diameter and 14.6mm in height. Naturally, it has a soft-iron inner case to protect it from magnetic forces, as well as sapphire crystals secured against sudden drops in air pressure. What distinguishes the two from the regular Big Pilot collecti
Zenith El Primero - 40 years - Monochrome Watches
I recently blogged about the world’s first automatic chronograph, Calibre 11, developped by Heuer, Breitling, Buren en Dubois-Depraz. Not much later Zenith launched their first automatic chronograph, the famous El Primero. This means that the Zenith also celebrates the 40th of the El Primero. Just Because: The Uber-Comfortable And Durable Stripa Strap
It’s not often we venture into the world of watch accessories, so when we do, you can be assured it’s a product we stand by. A couple of months ago we were approached by a man called Peter B¨¢lint Sinka, who started a company called Stripa Strap. With the clue being somewhat hidden in plain sight given the name, we are looking at yet another watch strap company. But in all honesty, I was very intrigued when I dug a little deeper and saw what was on offer. So, talking to Sinka for a bit, I ordered one, strapped it to my trusty Tudor Black Bay 79220N, and took it for a little spin! And without getting ahead of myself too much, I can honestly say this is the most comfortable strap I have ever experienced!Peter B¨¢lint Sinka and his wife, Klaudia Tisza, founded Stripa Strap in 2023 after spending a couple of years developing an idea into an actual product. Developing and designing something from the ground up is no easy thing and takes time, money and determination. The whole ide
