A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Tourbillon 25th Anniversary - The Series Grand Final - Monochrome Watches
As we anticipated, the tenth and final 25th Anniversary Lange 1 watch is a spectacular one-minute tourbillon. First introduced in the Lange 1 watch family in 2000, the Lange 1 Tourbillon was the world's first wristwatch combining a tourbillon, an outsize date, a three-day movement and power-reserve indicator. Revisited by A. Lange & Sohne in 2014 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Lange 1 in a very spectacular platinum edition with a black enamel dial, this tenth and final 25th anniversary model is decked out in a 38.5mm white gold case with a silver dial with blue trimmings, the same material and colour combination as the other nine celebratory Lange 1 models of 2019.How the Lange 1 met the tourbillon Dresden, 24 October 1994 has become a landmark date in watchmaking history marking the return of A. Lange & Sohne after a 40-year plus hiatus imposed by the destiny of East Germany following WWII. Emboldened by the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, W
The Archimedes by Milus, Now in Wild Green (Specs & Price)
The fluid-tight “compressor” or “super-compressor” technology was patented during the 1950s, by Ervin Piquerez SA, a famous watch case manufacturer from Bassecourt in the Swiss Jura. Cases equipped with this technology have given birth to iconic dive watches across many brands, including Jaeger-LeCoultre, Hamilton, Longines, or Bulova. The most famous “compressor” EPSA cases had a dual-crown style, one to wind the movement and set the time (and the date, if any), the other to operate the internal rotating bezel. This distinctive look remains highly popular with dive watch aficionados. Among the watches with such design is the Archimedes by Milus, a modern take on one of the brand's 1960s divers. The model is now presented in a cool green hue.One of the original Milus Archimedes that inspired the modern versionNamed upon the ancient Greek mathematician, physicist and inventor, famous for his principle applying on a body immersed in a fluid, the Archim
Interview: Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe, On The Tokyo Grand Exhibition
From 10 to 25 June 2023, Patek Philippe hosted the largest exhibition ever organized by the manufacture, the Grand Exhibition “Watch Art” Tokyo 2023. Some 60,000 visitors attended what's surely a success for the brand, which was accompanied by the launch of several limited editions, including two technical timepieces making their global debut. An important part of the communication strategy of the brand, these exhibitions allow collectors and simple watch enthusiasts to immerse themselves into the exclusive world of Patek. We're talking with Mr Thierry Stern, President of Patek Philippe, about the importance and purposes of these Grand Exhibitions. After Dubai in 2012, Munich in 2013, London in 2015, New York in 2017 and Singapore in 2019, Patek Philippe chose Tokyo for the sixth of its grand exhibitions across the world. Historically an important market for watchmaking, gathering some of the most discerning collectors around the globe, Japan was a suitable place for this 20
Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon, Blue dial and Steel bracelet (Price)
Unexpected yet at the same time quite relevant given the background of Mr Ferrier, the Grand Sport Tourbillon was introduced a year ago as Laurent Ferrier’s vision of an (ultra-high-end) luxury sports watch. Mixing a more common case material with a delicate, hand-finished tourbillon movement, it was the Haute Horlogerie version of what is today the most coveted of all watch categories. First presented in brown with a rubber strap, the Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon comes back this year on a congruent steel bracelet with a gradient blue dial. While widely known for its classic, elegant and restrained watches, all with smooth curves and delicate dials, Laurent Ferrier himself has an interesting background that helps to understand why this Grand Sport watch was created. First of all, the man has spent over 35 years at Patek Philippe, and in 1974, just before the launch of the Nautilus, he was in charge of the bureau technique d'habillage, a department in charge of the extern
Only Watch 2015 - Unique Ulysse Nardin Only Watch Stranger Ref. 6903-125/OW - Monochrome-Watches
Watches that actually ‘sing‘ are?something quite usual in the watchmaking industry – even if those watches that we call a repeater are usually requiring very deep pockets. These watches strike the time on demand (in order to have an indication of time without looking at the watch but only by hearing the sound of the chimes). Ulysse Nardin, which are?not known to be the worst watchmakers of Switzerland, have something slightly different to offer, a watch that doesn’t strike the time but that properly (and mechanically) plays music. The Ulysse Nardin Stranger is unique on its own and become even more special now, as for Only Watch 2015, the brand just created a one-of-a-kind piece that plays Rock ‘n’ Roll.Only by the action of a mechanical device, the Ulysse Nardin Only watch Stranger is able to play one of the most iconic rock ballads?of the legendary music band Queen: ‘We are the Champions’,?written by Freddie Mercury.
