Limited Editions and charity.... - Monochrome Watches
There are some watches in the “big, bulky, sporty chrono” section that tend to come out with several limited editions each year. Of course i’m talking about the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore and the Hublot Big Bang. Although i like both watches, i’m sceptical about the number of LE’s. I have never seen other models/brands come out with so much LE’s based on one model, unless you look at Panerai with numerous LE’s based on the Luminor Marina.Somehow i have to thing about a cooking course, when the chef says “now add a bit of this and a bit of that”. When you look at those watches they change the color of the dial and hands, do something odd to the dial (like the AP ROO Barricello) or make a rose gold version. Other things to play with are adding a power reserve, GMT hand or second timezone. And to totally top it off, there’s a tourbillon for those who want it all ??Hublot Project F BangHublot has, again, a new Limited Edit
Hands-On - Ulysse Nardin Executive Moonstruck Worldtimer (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
Ulysse Nardin’s history is deeply linked to Marine chronometers, yet there’s another speciality, rather forgotten, that the manufacture masters (and which is not that far from Marine watches), the astronomical watches. Some may recall the mid-1980s Trilogy –?Astrolabium Galileo Galilei (introduced in 1985), Planetarium Copernicus (introduced in 1988) and Tellurium Johannes Kepler (introduced in 1992). This year, UN introduces yet another astronomical watch, the?Moonstruck Worldtimer, combining the movements of the moon and sun in relation to the Earth, as well as a map of the tides and (novelty) a world-time display. You say complex, we say exciting. In a strictly literal definition, there are in fact many astronomical watches on the market… as long as you consider a moon-phase display enough to warrant this definition. Thus, with a watchmaking approach in mind, the concept of an astronomical watch relates to a timepiece with several indications, which can includ

Montblanc Star Legacy Exo Tourbillon Skeleton LE8 (Price)
Perhaps one of the most significant milestones in Montblanc's 114-year long history is its decision to take over the former Minerva production facilities in 2007. Based in Villeret, it has become Montblanc's inventing room for high horology watches, like the Montblanc Star Legacy Exo Tourbillon Skeleton LE8 watch. The timepiece boasts an 18k rose gold case, a skeletonised manual-winding movement that can be viewed from every angle, and a tourbillon that has had its balance wheel removed and relocated to the outside of the cage.Montblanc watches fitted with Minerva movements have always been on the large size. That's because their movements are descendants of some of the original Minerva pocket watch engines. Minerva was established in 1858 and built a name for itself by crafting chronograph movements like the Monopusher, which powered the company's many pocket watches and pilot's watches. When Montblanc acquired the company as part of Richemont, high-end Villeret watches continued in p
Golden Times For The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35mm
In the much-contested luxury sports watch category, there are two main contenders: on the one hand, there are the elusive heavyweight contestants with exorbitant prices, and on the other, catering to a far larger demographic, is an over-saturated sector vying for its share of the pie with aggressive prices. Separating the wheat from the chaff, it is reassuring to discover that a good number of rock-solid brands offer well-built, well-designed, mechanically powered sports watches at budget prices. Tissot is undoubtedly one of these, and with the launch of its PRX Powermatic 80 in 2021, it’s fair to say that the Swiss brand has hit a home run. First introduced in a 40mm case size, the watch community’s loud clamours for a more compact model did not fall on deaf ears, and Tissot responded with the PRX Powermatic 80 35mm in June 2023. Today, fans of the PRX are in for a treat as Tissot unveils a hot new version in a yellow gold PVD case delivering the golden Midas touch without
