Buying Guide: Is Purple The Hottest New Colour For Watches?
Like seasons throughout the year, there’s a constant ebb and flow in terms of design, shapes, colours, sizes and materials in watchmaking. Colour is perhaps the easiest to change for brands, but also the one that’s the most susceptible to the public’s opinion and demands. With green being “the hottest thing since sliced bread” over the past years, it now seems there’s a very strong and definitive shift to another striking tone of colour; Purple! In the past, we would see purple watches every now and then, but recently more and more have been rearing their seductive heads, and here are seven of the coolest ones!Baltic PrismicInspired by geometric shapes and luminous refractions, the Baltic Prismic is a surprisingly fun take on a “cocktail watch”. The charmingly compact watch has a purple dial with a guilloche-like centre pattern, a circular brushed ring, a grooved outer flange and a grained small seconds subdial with crosshair. The pyramid
First Look: The Salmon Dial Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tuscan Copper
The third record for thinness in the successful Octo Finissimo series?by Bulgari, the Octo Finissimo Automatic started its life in the most monochromatic and sleek attire possible – sandblasted titanium over a tone-on-tone dial, a signature look for the collection. Following our presentation earlier today of a new yellow gold edition, it’s time now to introduce the Octo Finissimo Tuscan Copper Automatic, with a colour combination that is one of our favourites. Salmon-steel for the win!Salmon dial over a steel case is a classic of the Swiss watch industry that has been around for decades. Usually the apanage of classic dress watches and vintage-inspired chronographs, it finds a spot here in the context of an edgy, ultra-thin take on the luxury sports watch, the n

Golden Times For The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 35mm
In the much-contested luxury sports watch category, there are two main contenders: on the one hand, there are the elusive heavyweight contestants with exorbitant prices, and on the other, catering to a far larger demographic, is an over-saturated sector vying for its share of the pie with aggressive prices. Separating the wheat from the chaff, it is reassuring to discover that a good number of rock-solid brands offer well-built, well-designed, mechanically powered sports watches at budget prices. Tissot is undoubtedly one of these, and with the launch of its PRX Powermatic 80 in 2021, it’s fair to say that the Swiss brand has hit a home run. First introduced in a 40mm case size, the watch community’s loud clamours for a more compact model did not fall on deaf ears, and Tissot responded with the PRX Powermatic 80 35mm in June 2023. Today, fans of the PRX are in for a treat as Tissot unveils a hot new version in a yellow gold PVD case delivering the golden Midas touch without
