Geneva Watch Days 2020 Postponed To August 26th-29th-2020
After Watches & Wonders (ex-SIHH) and Baselworld announced the cancellation of their 2020 editions amid fears of a possible COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic, a group of brands decided that they could react to this situation and offer, through agility and ingenuity, a different approach to the presentation of new watches. With these lost opportunities to meet retailers and the press, watch brands need to handle business that would have got done there, but in a different way. Hence the creation of the “Geneva Watch Days 2020”. But this was a couple of weeks ago and things have changed in Europe, drastically. With the current situation and containment policies in most European countries and Switzerland, the Geneva Watch Days can no longer be, at least until the end of August 2020.What were the Geneva Watch Days 2020? It was a self-managed, decentralized, multi-brand event to be held from 26 to 29 April 2020, at the exact same dates as the cancelled Watches & Wonders 2020.
First Look: Longines Enlarges the Conquest 38mm and 41mm Range with Colours and Rubber Straps
First introduced in 1954 (and the first to be trademarked over 70 years ago), the Conquest collection is among the longest lived of the brand with the winged hourglass logo. In recent years, the name Conquest (without a suffix, since there’s also the Conquest Heritage and the HydroConquest) has become synonymous with modern versatility. This became even truer in 2023 when Longines revamped the collection entirely, making it its most versatile offering. Following the first expansion of the range in 2024, Longines enriches the Conquest line even more this year, adding new colours and rubber straps to the 38mm and 41mm models.Positioned somewhere between elegant and sporty, the current Longines Conquest collection is in line with current trends. A daily oriented watch, which can be worn either at the office (if casual is your dress code) or during the weekend for a bit of action, the Conquest can do it all without much trouble. Classic, well finished, well equipped and reasonably pr
Richard Mille Tourbillon G-Sensor RM-036 Jean Todt Limited Edition - Monochrome Watches
An outrageous idea that a watchmaker dreams up, and developing it into a fully functional timepiece really inspires me. Take for instance the Oculus-mechanism in the Valbray V.01 or the liquid hour marker in the HYT H1 are perfect examples of such out-of-the-box creativity. Richard Mille in its own right, is a brand not shy of pushing the proverbial envelope as well. Always innovative, always creative, and quite frankly, always stunning to withhold. Even for those who might not find the design appealing, the craftsmanship is most certainly appreciative. Ad - Scroll to continue with article For their latest creation, Richard Mille has embarked on a journey into safety. RM is no stranger to (motor)sports, having already released quite a number of timepieces involving key-ambassadors like racing drivers Felipe Massa and Jules Bianchi. Both of these men represent wh
Introducing: The New Panerai Luminor Marina Collection in Steel
Although the Florentine brand Panerai was founded in 1860, its contract with the Italian Royal Navy to produce precision instruments changed its destiny radically. Panerai's 1916 radium-based powder, known as Radiomir, lit up the brand's future as a supplier of luminescent instruments, underwater tools, and eventually watches for the Italian Royal Navy and its famous frogmen commandos. In 1949, Panerai replaced radioactive radium with Luminor, a harmless tritium-based luminescent substance. A few years later, Panerai patented its Luminor watch with its sandwich dial, outstanding luminescence and crown-protecting bridge. In 1993, the Luminor and Luminor Marina Militare were made available to civilians. Now a flagship collection, Panerai proposes four new Luminor Marina models in stainless steel with increased water-resistance, brighter luminescence and a new 3-day automatic movement. The Luminor Marina's prominent bridge protecting the crown is now responsible for ensuring the higher wat
Five Cool New Chronograph Watches Priced Below 3,5K
It’s not the first time year we’ve grouped together a selection of chronograph watches, and it’s likely not going to be the last time. With Watches & Wonders already well and truly in the past, and Geneva Watch Days not quite here yet, brand’s haven’t slowed down much to present us with new and exciting watches. And with the chronograph being a fan favourite complication, it didn’t take too long to compile a Buying Guide or two. And now we revisit the faithful “Chrono” once more, with six of the most recent new entries of this ever-popular type of wristwatch.?Hanhart 417 ES 1954When it comes to historically relevant, and vintage-inspired chronographs at a relatively affordable price, it’s impossible to ignore Hanhart. Especially when they release a more compact and downright fantastic version of the iconic 417 ES, a very classically styled pilot’s chronograph. Measuring 39mm across, where its larger brother comes in at 42m
