First Look: The new Doxa SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler
Nothing does more for a brand's image than having a famous name spontaneously endorse your product. Although Doxa was not the first Swiss brand to produce a professional dive watch, it was the first to introduce a dive watch with a unidirectional rotating bezel to ensure safe no-decompression ascents in 1967. Doxa's SUB 300, with its massive tonneau-shaped case, rotating unidirectional bezel and bright orange dial, won the patronage of diving legend Jacques Cousteau and his team of Calypso divers. Another fan of the SUB 300 was American novelist Clive Cussler, whose character Dirk Pitt wore an orange dial SUB 300 on his adventures. Cussler, a passionate shipwreck hunter, would have celebrated his 93rd birthday today, and Doxa celebrates with a new special edition, the SUB 300T Sharkhunter Clive Cussler.?Acclaimed American adventure novelist Clive Cussler (1931-2020)Clive Cussler's (1931-2020) most famous character is Dirk Pitt, a marine engineer, government agent and intrepid adventure
MeisterSinger Pangaea Day Date 2022 New Models - Hands-On, Price
MeisterSinger introduced the Pangaea Day Date back in 2013 with day and date discs that were fully exposed in the centre. Of course, a single hour hand was all that relayed the time in MeisterSinger style. The updated 2019 Pangaea Day Date received contrasting colours between the base dial and discs (and outermost track), which offered more visual separation and some additional character. That trend continues with two 2022 models that feature Petrol (a shade of cyan) and Bordeaux (a merlot red) discs against a black base, and the colours really pop without being garish.?SIMPLE AND SOPHISTICATED?The Pangaea Day Date is among MeisterSinger's most successful lines, winning the Red Dot, German Design and Good Design awards in its relatively short history. I've always been impressed at how the brand continues to make intriguing, sophisticated dials with the single-hand design. Models like the Perigraph Edition Planet Earth, Astroscope and Lunascope show that simple concepts can be anything
Hands-on - 2021 Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic (Specs & Price)
Since its introduction in 2017, the Captain Cook collection has become an important pillar for Rado. This vintage-oriented model was the answer of the brand to the demand for sporty, cool watches. If Rado benefits from a?rich history, and several emblematic watches from the past, there was one area of the brand’s expertise that was somehow not used to its maximum yet with this collection. Know as the “Master of Materials,” Rado has somehow managed to bring ceramic to traditional watchmaking on a larger scale. And today, its successful vintage-oriented dive watch gets the full ceramic touch. Here are the 4 new Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic watches, in the metal.?BackgroundAs previously explained, the modern Captain Cook collection is inspired by a glorious and quite conspicuous watch produced by the brand during the golden age of the dive watch. This watch was released in 1962 with a 37mm case and named after the British explorer, Captain Cook. While technically
