Introducing the New Bulgari Octo Roma - Live Photos, Specs & Price
For over a decade now (designed by Bulgari’s Roman design department in 2004), the Octo has become the iconic watch collection of the brand, known for its delicate and precious jewellery creations but also now for some distinctive watchmaking products (see the Finissimo collection and you’ll understand…) Yet, as desirable this watch is, it is a razor-sharp design, with no fewer than 110 facets and a shape that can’t go unnoticed. This year, the brand gives an answer to those?for whom the Octo is simply too bold, with a more delicate and softer creation, still impregnated?with the Octagonal DNA, the?Bulgari Octo Roma.About the Bulgari OctoOcto Finissimo Small Seconds platinumOur editor Xavier drew a quick history of the model, clarifying a misunderstanding point. Indeed “The Octo has often been attributed to Gerald Genta but, as Bvlgari points out, it was actually conceived in the brand’s Roman design department in 2004. Commercialized under the Geral
Hands-On With the Elegant Yet Accessible Longines Presence Heritage
The Heritage collection is, without a doubt, one of my favourites in the Longines range, and for many years I have enjoyed sharing my admiration whenever the topic came up. The history of this truly great brand dates back to 1832, with vast archives to dive into. Thus, for the Heritage Collection, there are plenty of delightful models to replicate or serve as inspiration to please today’s customers. The Longines Presence Heritage, a slightly overlooked model (to say the least), honours the brand’s past and present with this lovely reference in rose gold. And there are many things to talk about regarding the design, but it’s also one of the best value proposition models the brand has to offerOne of the particularities that contribute to my appreciation for Longines is the meetings I had over the years with Walter von Kanel, who worked at the company for over 30 years before retiring from the post of president at the age of 79. I could say he was responsible for teachin

Kickstarter Campaign - Lebois & Co Avantgarde Date - The Re-launch Edition, now in blue - Monochrome Watches
In a recent survey, we asked you what you wanted to see on Monochrome-Watches. The answer was clear: more technical explanations (and our solution is the Technical Perspective) and more affordable watches. However, we’re selective and we’re not going to show all the?watches priced under 1,000 EUR / USD. However, this one is a Monochrome?favorite, which we already showed to you, with the first edition launched via a?Kickstarter Campaign. It seems that success knocked at?the door of the founders as today, a second campaign with a second edition of the?Lebois & Co Avantgarde Date, now in sapphire blue, is available for Kickstarter contributors (see here). At Monochrome-Watches, we’re after all big fans of watches, of all things related to watchmaking and of?technical aspects. Right, this is no surprise. On the other hand, and this is also the result of our passion, we have a soft spot for stories behind the brand and for personalities, for a link between a product and
Introducing: Hanhart Resuscitates its White Pilot with the 417 ES Moby Dick
Hanhart, the German brand that started life in Switzerland as a manufacturer of stopwatches before relocating to Germany in 1902, gained renown as a producer of Flieger (pilot's) chronographs. In the mid-1950s, Hanhart built the 417, the first pilot's chronograph for the German Armed Forces, with an emphasis on robustness, reliability, and readability. In circulation until 1963, the 417 was retired, allowing Hanhart to focus on stopwatches. But there was another lesser-known Hanhart 417 waiting in the wings, known among collectors as the Moby Dick. Identical in build to the 417 but with a white dial, the Moby Dick was adopted by admirals and doctors in the navy and, given its scarcity, had become a coveted collector's piece. The vintage watch that was used as an inspiration for the new 417 ES Moby DickIn 2020, Hanhart reissued the legendary 417 pilot's chronograph. While the case and dial faithfully respected many traits of its ancestor, the modern version of the Hanhart 417 ES reflecte
