IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph IW377724 With New Dial (Specs & Price)
In 2017, IWC took us by surprise when presenting the desirable, vintage-inspired and definitely cool?Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII Edition Tribute to Mark XI. Now, it’s time for the Schaffhausen-based brand to focus on the chronograph version of this watch and to apply the same recipe: baton hands, faux-patine markers, cleaner dial and fabric strap. And if the 3-hander was mimicking the Mark XI, the new?IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph IW377724 is reminiscent of one of the coolest 1990s watches, the?Fliegerchronograph ref. 3706.The?Fliegerchronograph 3705 and 3706 are important watches in IWC’s history, as they marked the comeback of the brand in the field of mechanical pilot watches. Over 20 years ago, these 39mm watches, with Valjoux-based chonograph movements were a sort of renaissance of the proper tool watch and for this reason, they are some of the coolest “young-timers” we can think of. And guess what? IWC has decided to create a watch that looks like these
IWC Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Lewis Hamilton IW503002
Last year, I had the chance to interview F1 superstar Lewis Hamilton, just before the French Grand-Prix. Part of the discussion was, of course, his impressive racing results but also something more in line with our usual topics; watches. I asked him what if he had the opportunity to design his own IWC watch. He answered “red gold is my favourite (…) I love the Big Pilot's watch, I love heavier watches (…) Most likely it would be a perpetual calendar (…) A watch as mechanical as possible.” Well, it seems that his idea has come to life, with the new IWC “Lewis Hamilton” Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar.?Let’s get it straight… This new IWC Lewis Hamilton edition is bold. Colours are louder than your usual Pilot’s watch, the mix of materials brings a lot of contrast, the watch is large, heavy, complex and far from accessible. In short, it’s quite in line with the image Hamilton sends – even though, to my bigg
Hands-On - Omega Speedmaster CK2998 Pulsometer / Panda Dial - Baselworld 2018 (Live Pics, Specs & Price)
While Omega’s main focus for Baselworld 2018 was the Seamaster collection – which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year – the Biel-based brand couldn’t entirely ignore its other icon, the Speedmaster. Apart from the modern and surprising Dark Side of the Moon Apollo 8 edition, Omega also had something very desirable to show: a new CK2998 Limited Edition. Nothing revolutionary here, just a cool vintage-inspired chronograph with several pleasant details. Meet the?Omega Speedmaster CK2998 Pulsometer. The new Omega Speedmaster?CK2998 Pulsometer is the latest iteration in a line-up started with the Speedmaster FOIS – for First Omega in Space. This watch was launched in 2012 and introduced a new case inspired by the Speedy Straight Lugs of the 1960s –? in particular, reference CK2998. This symmetrical case will later be found in the FOIS Sedna Gold/Panda dial (launched in 2015) and more recently in the blue CK2998 (launched at Baselworld 2016). All
Doxa SUB300 Sharkhunter Black Lung - the Second and Final Batch - Monochrome Watches
An icon among icons… This is how we would sum up the Doxa SUB300. Recently, the brand has revived its most legendary model in multiple editions, starting with an almost 1-to-1 re-edition for the 50th anniversary, followed by specific “Aqualung” branded models in orange, silver or black – the so-called “Sharkhunter”. However, there was one major problem with them: they were all highly limited and quickly sold out. Today, Doxa announces the second and final batch of 100 pieces for the SUB300 Sharkhunter Black Lung… So you’d better be fast! The Doxa SUB300The concept of dive watches, as a professional tool, only appeared in the early 1950s, with the launch of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms?and the Submariner, both in 1953 and later followed by Omega with the Seamaster 300 and Seiko with the 62Mas in 1957. Doxa came on the market later though, although when it did, it was with a watch that would make quite an impression.Urs Eschle, one of the h
First Look: New Editions of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds
The Tribute Duoface Small Seconds stands out as one of the finest modern expressions of the timeless Reverso by Jaeger-LeCoultre. First presented in 1994, the Duoface concept does not offer caseback engraving options. Instead, it compensates with the added functionality of a second time zone display on the reverse side, making full use of its flipping case. This year, two new stainless steel versions, in blue or black, join the collection, bringing out the typical versatile and sophisticated appeal of the Reverso. The latest additions to the Reverso Tribute Duoface Small Seconds series maintain the same case design and dimensions as their predecessors, meaning 47mm x 28.3mm x 10.34mm, with a water resistance of 30 meters. The inner surface of the case holder is decorated with a sunray pattern.? The key updates lie in the dial design: a black or vivid blue front dial paired with a redesigned reverse dial featuring a silver sunray finish instead of the traditional clous de Paris pattern.
