Buying Guide: Six Aventurine Watches That Bring Starry Skies To The Wrist
The exact date of origin, and who discovered or developed the process of Aventurine glass remains unknown. It’s believed to be discovered by chance and first seen in Murano, Venice, at the beginning of the 17th century. Aventurine glass is made by adding metallic parts to heated crushed glass causing the particles to crystallise as it cools down. The result is a fascinating spectacle that resembles a star-studded night sky. The most common colours are black and dark blue, but as today’s Buying Guide will reveal, other colours are also possible. Whichever colour it comes in though, it’s almost certain to spark emotions!Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Flying TourbillonEarly on in 2023, Audemars Piguet massively impressed us with an array of incredible and often complex new releases in the Code 11.59 collection. The Flying Tourbillon you see here, is perhaps the most evocative one, with its rose gold and black ceramic case and exquisite automatic flying tourbillon movement
Live From SIHH 2019 - Christoph Grainger-Herr of IWC Watches - Monochrome Watches
With the SIHH 2019 in full swing, it is time for MONOCHROME to bring you the novelties of this year live, and not only with articles and photos but also with videos. To start with we have?Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Watches, explaining all you need to know about the 2019 collection – which, you might have guessed, is focused on pilot’s watches.Pilot’s watches are one of the main ranges at IWC, and certainly one of the most prolific collections. While IWC has tended to renew collections once a year, times are changing and Mr?Grainger-Herr wants more stability. This is the?reason why the emblematic pieces – Big Pilot and Mark XVIII – have been left untouched. First Look: The new Tank Louis Cartier with Automatic Movement
Louis Cartier's Tank watch, introduced in 1917, marked a before and after in men's wristwatches. Breaking with the taste for ornately decorated cases, the Tank Normale's geometric case, inspired by an aerial view of armoured Renault tanks deployed in WW1, was a precursor of the clean minimalist lines of Art Deco. Thanks to its well-executed and disarmingly simple design, the Tank Normale proved incredibly versatile, spawning a legion of Tanks, including the 1922 Tank Louis Cartier. Also known as the Tank LC, it was a larger edition with a more pronounced rectangular profile and masculine personality. Today, Cartier releases a new Tank Louis Cartier Automatic with more generous dimensions in pink and yellow gold cases, powered by the brand’s automatic Calibre 1899 MC.Taking the elemental features of a Renault tank and adapting them to a wristwatch was, in retrospect, a stroke of genius. The tank tread of the armoured vehicle became the lateral brancards or sides of the watch that

The point is not to debate on?which is the best, but just to show you 3 of the best watches to be auctioned for Only Watch 2015. UPDATE: The Unique?Patek Philippe ref. 5016A-010 Minute Repeater Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar in stainless steel reached a stratospheric 7,300,000 Swiss Francs, making it THE most expensive wristwatch ever sold during an?auction.?in the left corner, the heavyweight, the title holder, Patek
Introducing the Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date Collection
Dive watches don’t really come to mind when thinking about Montblanc, but the brand has a trio of new divers with a classic overall design. Bright, modern dials in blue and green keep things fresh and eye-catching, while a black dial offers a more traditional aesthetic (not featured in this article). Inspiration came from the freezing glacial lakes of the Mont-Blanc Massif, and textures from ice formations are represented on the lacquered dials. The watches conform to the ISO 6425 norm for diving and went through the Montblanc Laboratory 500 Hour Test for durability, so it’s definitely not “form over function”. Meet the new Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date collection. The stainless steel case is 41mm in diameter with a height of 12.9mm and features a brushed finish with polished accents and curved lugs. There’s an engraving of a scuba diver in glacial waters with an iceberg on the caseback. The image was created with the help of advanced laser engravi
