Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter Collection 2020 // Review, Price
Hamilton is no stranger to the instrument watch. In fact, the brand owns multiple collections designed to remind its glorious past as one of the major providers of timepieces for military forces and watches for a specific purpose. This is true, for instance, with the military-inspired Khaki Field watches, a tribute to its?mid-20thcentury archives (the Hamilton Hacked). Hamilton is no stranger to the pilot’s watch either. With its Khaki Aviation collection, the brand demonstrates its experience in this field. The best example was the recent Khaki Pilot Pioneer. Today, it’s another kind of pilot’s watch that the brand introduces. Meet the brand new Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter Collection.Hamilton is proud to own over 100 years of experience in the field of pilot’s watches. The brand, for instance, provided the first U.S. Airmail service with watches, as of 1918. Today, Hamilton is still involved in pilot’s watches with the Khaki Aviation collection, whi
Industry The Revival Of Daniel Roth in 2023, Thanks to LV
If you’re into independent watchmaking, the name Daniel Roth should immediately speak to you. One of the most sought-after independent watchmakers, and a man who was instrumental in the return of high-end mechanical watchmaking in the 1980s and 1990s (including his work on the resurgence of Breguet), the brand Daniel Roth has known many lives… And some that were perhaps not worthy of the name. But something is about to happen that will bring much joy to collectors: Daniel Roth, one of the defining independent watch brands of the 20th century, is coming back, run as an independent brand, with guidance and incubation from La Fabrique Du Temps Louis Vuitton.?Daniel Roth has been an instrumental figure in the revival of mechanical, high-end, traditional watchmaking in the mid-1970s. He was one of the key players in the resurrection of Breguet, together with the Chaumet Brothers (from 1976 to 1988) and worked on bringing back the classic Breguet style. Together with Lemania, Bre
Breaking Phillips Sells Paul Newman's Paul Newman Daytona for $17,752,500, Being The Most Expensive Wristwatch Ever Auctioned - Monochrome Watches
This is it… This is the big one. The watch that the entire collecting community was expecting to see surfacing one day has gone under the hammer. This watch, as auctioneer Aurel Bacs explained to us in this video interview, is not only a celebrity’s watch; it represents much more than that. It’s the very?watch that created an icon (the Paul Newman Daytona), the very watch that is, in fact, the reason why collecting steel sports watches is now so popular. Well, it’s official, Paul Newman’s Paul Newman Daytona has been sold just a few minutes ago, for a record price of over $17.7 Million, making it the most expensive wristwatch ever auctioned (and that’s with buyer’s premium). As a reminder (all prices including buyer’s fees) $3,717,906 – The most expensive Daytona ever auctioned – the?Oyster Paul Newman “The Legend” In Gold with Lemon dial, sold by Phillips at “Geneva Watch Auction: Five” on May 14th, 2

Buying Guide - Best Accessible Watches Under 2,500 Euros of Baselworld 2019
With the Swatch Group gone from Baselworld 2019, the “Value Proposition” category, meaning watches under EUR 2,500, has been seriously affected. Brands like Tissot, Mido, Hamilton or Longines usually perform well in this segment. Nevertheless, this doesn’t mean we haven’t seen some cool things at Baselworld this year (and around the fair too). Here are the best accessible watches we spotted in March – all priced under 2.5K, and because you’re reading MONOCHROME, they all feature a mechanical movement.Doxa SUB 200 130th AnniversaryDoxa is mainly known for its rugged, cushion-shaped dive watches, inspired by the original 1960s SUB 300. Reducing the brand to only this watch would be sad, and as it celebrates its 130th anniversary this year, Doxa is about to re-edit more of its past glories. At Baselworld 2019, there was an insanely cool full gold SUB 200 Chronograph (insanely expensive too) and on the other side of the spectrum is this “bang for t
