Tudor Baselworld 2018 - Tudor Predictions 2018 - Tudor Novelties 2018
Tudor has gained an incredible level of popularity over the past few years, becoming one of the coolest players in the watch game. This is the reason why we, at MONOCHROME, have placed this brand under our radar for quite some years already and,?like we did with a few days ago, it’s time for us to be creative and to try and guess what Tudor might launch in the very near future. So, here are the possible?Tudor Baselworld 2018 novelties – in other words,?the Tudor watches we’d love to see at Baselworld 2018.This is not the first time that we look into our crystal ball to see Tudor’s future. We have been doing it for a couple of years already – in 2014, in 2015, in 2016 and last year, in 2017. Some of our predictions became reality, just like the blue Pelagos or the Black Bay Black dial, some never came to life. Yet, this won’t stop our creativity and this is why we have come up with some more predictions for Tudor Baselworld 2018 novelties.Tudor Base
First Look: Three New Editions of the Sporty Bulgari Aluminium
The launch of the Bulgari Aluminio in 1998 flew in the face of conventional watchmaking with its unusual combination of black rubber and lightweight aluminium. With its graphic solid black and off-white livery, the Aluminio soared in popularity as an attractive, entry-level sports watch with a slick Italian soul. Marking its much-anticipated comeback in 2020, Bulgari released the Aluminium with automatic movements, an increased water-resistance of 100 metres and the signature black and off-white colour scheme that has made this watch so recognisable and popular. Today, Bulgari plays with the colour palette of the Aluminium with three equally eye-catching, unisex versions of its GMT, time-and-date and chronograph models. While the combination of rubber and aluminium might not strike us as being particularly vanguard today, back in 1998, this mix was unconventional. Admittedly, Hublot's Italian founder Carlo Crocco shocked Baselworld in 1980 with his gold watch and black rubber strap, but
Speake-Marin London Chronograph Triple Date (Price)
The new London Chronograph with a historical, restored Valjoux 88 movement from the 1950s belongs to Speake-Marin's Vintage collection. Speake-Marin might be based in Switzerland, but it likes to emphasise its British roots and its somewhat eccentric British styling. The latest model to join the Vintage collection is this London Chronograph Triple Date powered by a beautiful vintage Valjoux 88.Valjoux 88 CalibreFor many, the highlight of this watch is the Valjoux 88 calibre. Inspired by the Valjoux 23 base calibre, the manual-winding Valjoux 88 appeared in the 1950s. A very complete and sophisticated movement, the 17-jewel Valjoux 88 incorporated a column-wheel chronograph, three counters, date, day, month, moon phases and quick calendar corrections. The Valjoux 88 was fitted inside some of the finest watches from brands like Ulysse Nardin, Longines, Eberhard & Co., Paul Picot, Baume & Mercier and Universal Geneve. The original configuration displayed the 12-hour elapsed time c
Watches and Formula 1 - Episode 7 - Williams F1 and Oris - Monochrome Watches
40 years, for some this feels like an eternity (I am only 33 years old) and for others it feels like next to nothing. Making it 40 years in life doesn't require too much effort if you have no serious challenges. But to make it 40 years in the grueling sport of Formula 1 takes skill, determination, luck, good judgment, a lot of money and a clear vision. One of the most illustrious names in the business is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, so it is only fitting to include it into our Watches & Formula 1 saga; Williams F1 and their long-term watch partner, Oris.Founded by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head, the team started in an old carpet warehouse in Didcot, Oxfordshire (UK) in 1977. Prior to that Sir Frank Williams was pushing drivers in F2 and F3000 series, and he subsequently started venturing into F1 in 1969. Fielding a Brabham BT26A with the iconic Ford DFV 3.0 V8 and long-time friend Piers Courage behind the wheel, they scored two second place finishes! A year
Elka Watches Vintage-Inspired Models on Kickstarter
There are dozens of watch-related projects launched on Kickstarter and other crowdfunding platforms every month, with more or less interest. Sometimes, we stumble across something cool, nicely executed and with a captivating background, something like this; Elka Watches. A new brand built on a historic, defunct name, the idea of its founder was to bring back the flair of the 1960s with modernised specifications, attention to details and appealing designs. With two collections under its sleeve, let’s look at the retro-styled models launched by Elka Watches and now available for orders on Kickstarter.Elka Watches, the contemporary brand we’re looking at today, will probably remind some of an old company. Yet, as explained by the brand, “our brand of 2022 has no connection with the defunct Amsterdam brand. We just wanted to pay a tribute to the old Dutch brand with our first 2 models.” About the historic Elka name, it was founded in Amsterdam in 1877 by Eliazer Kie
