Buying Guide: A Selection Of Sleek & Scratch-Proof Ceramic Watches
Watches come in all sizes, shapes, colours, styles and materials, which is why there’s always something to be found that ticks personal boxes. One of the options in terms of case material, or beyond for that matter, is ceramic. Pioneered by brands like Rado, it has come a long way and can be found in anything from a robust diver or sleek luxury sports watch to a complex calendar watch. Its main attribute is the fact its virtually impervious to scratches, plus the fact it can be crafted in pretty much any colour. With that said, here’s a selection of bold ceramic watches to satisfy our needs!Blancpain Bathyscaphe quantiEme completAs the more compact and streamlined take on the iconic Fifty Fathoms, the Bathyscaphe collection is often a platform of complications for Blancpain. Where we could have gone for the time-and-date model or even the chronograph, we went for the Quantieme Complet instead. Its brushed black ceramic case is matched to a full ceramic bracelet which Blandp
The Auction Hammer - Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir 13 - Monochrome Watches
In the last couple of years it has become a trend; watches that the high-end brands make especially for one or more of their boutiques. Often this results in unique color combinations and very limited production. Today we found such a watch, but this one is so much more rare….??It’s a Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir Boutique Edition, but not just ?a Boutique Edition; Cartier issued this watch in 1999 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of it’s boutique in Paris! The word ‘Boutique’ is actually kind of an understatement for the Cartier Boutique, because you could better call it flagship store. The store is situated at 13 Rue de la Paix, in a building that was purchased in 1899 by Alfred Cartier. In this very building many incredible events took place; from the remounting of the famous Hope diamond to the conception of many of Cartier's now legendary watch models. Ad - Scroll to continue with article Montblanc launches a special project in collaboration with a young watchmaker, every two years. It records times up to 1/1
Oris Aquis Date with new colors to perform in the deep (specs & price) - Monochrome Watches
When you have the concept of a rugged and functional dive watch in mind, with great quality and for a relatively affordable price, the Oris Aquis Date has to be on your wish-list. No debate, this watch is good for what it has been designed for – and it’s also a pleasant watch on a daily basis (even professional divers spend some time on land…). Although we thought it to perform well, it seems that Oris had some improvements to make, and this year, they add 2 new colors and dials designed to perform in the hostile conditions found deep underwater.Underwater, the notion of color has to be seen on a completely different level. For instance, red, which is a bright and highly visible color on earth, totally disappear when underwater, and at just 5m down to the sea. On the other hand, some other colors, like blue for instance, remain?highly visible, even at 200m. Aware of this issue, Oris looked at how they could make a diver's watch as legible and therefore as safe as poss
Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 Open Heart (Specs & Price)
Skeleton or openworked watches have always enjoyed certain popularity and range from anything ultra high-end to accessible watches. There’s something specifically appealing in discovering what’s beating inside a watch (even more for newcomers to mechanical watches), yet entirely opened dials can result in cluttered displays. For this reason, there’s a kind of watch that sits right in the middle, often referred to as “open heart” models, with only the brain of the watch exposed on the dial. Using the successful Gentleman Powermatic 80 as a base, Tissot is now releasing a new edition that does exactly that.?The Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80, a watch that we’ve extensively reviewed here and also filmed, can easily be considered one of the best offerings for an all-rounder, rather elegant and yet robust watch in the EUR sub-1000 category. Nicely proportioned and quite elegant overall for business use, resistant enough for the weekend too, very well equi
